192 <br /> <br /> The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in called <br />session at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, November 9, 1982, at the County Courthouse <br />in Concord, North Carolina, to consider the proposed Farm Use Schedule. <br /> Present - Chairman: Ralph C. Bonds <br /> Commissioners: J. Harold Nash <br /> Troy R. Cook <br /> James W. Lentz <br /> Kenneth F. Payne <br /> Mr. Terry Rowland, Tax Supervisor, presented the proposed Farm Use <br />Schedule which had been prepared in accordance with directions of the <br />Board of Commissioners at a meeting on November 1, 1982. The Farm Use <br />Schedule as recommended by Mr. Rowland was as follows: <br /> <br />Open Land - Suitable for Cultivation <br />Open Land - Not Suitable for Cultivation <br />Woodland <br />Wasteland <br /> <br />$600 per acre <br />$400 per acre <br />$300 per acre <br />$100 per acre <br /> <br /> Persons speaking in opposition to the proposed Farm Use Schedule as <br />well as an increase in taxes for farmers included Messrs. Lipe Barrier, <br />George Hahn, Jack Rankin, Aaron Bost, and Mike Harkey. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Lentz with <br />Commissioners Payne, Lentz, Nash, and Cook voting for and Chairman Bonds <br />voting against, the Board adopted the following schedule as recommended by <br />the Tax Office. <br /> <br />1983 PRESENT USE VALUE SCHEDULE - CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> <br />LAND CLASSIFICATION <br /> <br />LAND VALUE PER ACRE <br /> <br />OPEN - Suitable for Cultivation <br />OPEN - Not Suitable for Cultivation <br />WOODLAND <br />WASTELAND <br /> <br />$600 <br />$400 <br />$3oo <br />$ oo <br /> <br /> The Board briefly discussed the feasibility of establishing a committee <br />including farmers and farm agents to work with the Tax Office in determining <br />those persons in the County who are bona fide farmers and who qualify for <br />consideration under the Farm Use Schedule. ~No action was taken in this <br />matter. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Cook and <br />unanimously carried, the meeting was adjourned. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
