303 <br /> <br /> The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in adjourned <br />budget session at the County Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina, at <br />7:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 2, 1983, to continue review of the proposed <br />1983-84 Cabarrus County Budget. <br /> Present - Chairman: J. Harold Nash <br /> Commissioners: Archie Y. Barnhardt <br /> Marcelle Milloway <br /> James W. Lentz <br /> Kenneth F. Payne <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Lentz and <br />unanimously carried, the Board scheduled a public hearing at 7:00 P.M. on <br />Monday, June 20, 1983, on the proposed 1983-84 County budget and a special <br />meeting at 7:00 P.M. on Monday, June 27, 1983, for the adoption of the <br />1983-84 budget ordinance. <br /> The motion made by Commissioner Lentz and seconded by Commissioner Payne <br />to reduce the per diem pay for the County Commissioners by $100.00 per <br />month failed with Commissioners Lentz and Payne voting for and Commissioners <br />Barnhardt and Milloway and Chairman Nash voting against. <br /> UPON MOTION by Commissioner Payne, seconded by Chairman Nash and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the proposed budget for the Board <br />of County Commissioners as recommended by the County Manager. <br /> The motion by Commissioner Barnhardt and seconded by Commissioner <br />Milloway to freeze the salaries for County employees at the present rate <br />failed with Commissioners Barnhardt and ~lloway voting for and Commissioners <br />Payne and Lentz and Chairman Nash voting against. The across-the-board <br />raise of five percent (5%) as recommended by the County Manager for all <br />County employees was accepted as presented in the proposed 1983-84 budget. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Chairman Nash with <br />Commissioner§ Payne and Lentz and Chairman Nash voting for and Commissioners <br />Milloway and Barnhardt voting against, the Board approved the proposed budget <br />for the County Manager's Office as recommended by the County Manager. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Payne <br />with Commissioners Lentz and Payne and Chairman Nash voting for and <br />Commissioners Barnhardt and Milloway voting against, the proposed Printing <br />Department budget was approved as recommended by the County Manager. <br /> No vote was taken on the motion by Commissioner Barnhardt and seconded <br />by Commissioner Milloway to cut the Tax Collector's budget by $10,000.00. <br /> UPON MOTION by Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Commissioner Lentz <br />and unanimously carried, the meeting was adjourned. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
