340 <br /> <br /> The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in regular <br />session at the County Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina, on Monday, <br />July 25, 1983, at 7:00 P.M. <br /> Present - Chairman: J. Harold Nash <br /> Commissioners: Archie Y. Barnhardt <br /> }~rcelle Milloway <br /> James W. Lentz <br /> Kenneth F. Payne <br /> The invocation was given by Reverend William L. Krewson of the Concord <br />Bible Church. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Commissioner Payne <br />and unanimously carried, the Board agreed to insert into the record of <br />today's meeting that portion of the minutes of June 22, 1983, deleted by <br />the Board on July 5, 1983, with a note of reference to today's action placed <br />on page 323 of the June 22 minutes. The item of the proposal by Chairman <br />Nash on June 22 regarding Board-directed salary adjustments for department <br />heads was as follows. <br /> <br />5) <br /> <br />Approve Board-directed annual salary adjustments for department <br />heads as follows. <br /> <br />$1,500.00 <br />$1,000.00 <br /> <br />$1,500.00 <br />$1,000.00 <br />$3,OOO.OO <br />$1,000.00 <br />$1,500.00 <br />$1,000.00 <br />$ 5OO.OO <br />$1,000.O0 <br /> <br />Sheriff <br />Chief Deputy Yow <br />Chief Deputy Troutman <br />Tax Supervisor <br />Tax Collector <br />Agricultural Extension Chairman <br />Emergency Services Director <br />Health Director <br />Finance Director <br />Fire Marshal <br />Recreation Director <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Barnhardt, seconded by Commissioner <br />~lloway and unanimously carried, the Board approved the minutes of July 5 <br />and July 7, 1983, as written. <br /> The Board deferred until the next meeting the appointment to the <br />Watershed Improvement Commission to fill the unexpired term created by the <br />death of Mr. Clyde William Cook. <br /> Bids received on July 11, 1983, for an emergency generator and <br />associated equipment for the Cabarrus County Emergency Operations Center <br />were as follows. <br /> <br />LEGAL ADVERTISEMENT DATE: <br />June 20, 1983 <br /> <br /> VENDOR <br /> Dixie Power Systems <br />Cummins Carolinas, Inc. <br /> Carolina Tractor & Equipment Co. <br /> <br />BID BOND BID AMOUNT <br /> <br />X $26,722.00 <br />X $26,628.00 <br />X $30,108.00 <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Commissioner <br />Barnhardt and unanimously carried, the Board accepted the low bid in the <br />amount of $26,628.00 from Cummins Carolinas, Inc., for the purchase of <br />the emergency generator and associated equipment. <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Nash, seconded by Commissioner Payne and <br />unanimously carried, the Board appointed Mr. Alfred M. Brown to the Board <br />of Health to complete the unexpired term of Mr. Lewis Williams ending on <br />December 31, 1983. Mr. Williams resigned this appointment upon his <br />employment as Cabarrus County Veterans Service Officer. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner ~lilloway, seconded by Commissioner Payne <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted for Cabarrus County for the <br />year 1983 a discount schedule to allow a discount of two percent (2%) for <br />the early payment of 1983 property taxes on or before August 31, 1983. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Barnhardt, seconded by Commissioner <br />Milloway and unanimously carried, the Board authorized the Cabarrus County <br />Tax Collector to proceed with the collection of any delinquent taxes that <br />are as much as twelve (12) months delinquent in whatever matter she deems <br />appropriate in accordance with the North Carolina General Statutes. <br /> <br /> <br />
