582 <br /> <br /> The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met at the <br />County Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina, on Wednesday, June 6, 1984, <br />at 7:00 P.M. to continue review of the proposed 1984-85 Budget. <br /> Present - Chairman: James W. Lentz <br /> Commissioners: Archie Y. Barnhardt <br /> Marcelle Milloway <br /> J. Harold Nash <br /> Kenneth F. Payne <br />The minutes were recorded by Mr. Blair D. Bennett, Finance Director. <br />Mr. William McCrary, Chairman of the Cabarrus Advisory Council for <br />Rowan Technical Institute, addressed the Board seeking support of the <br />requested allocation in the amount of $48,215.00 for Rowan Technical <br />College for the 1984-85 fiscal year. <br /> Mr. Robert W. Farris, Environmental Health Supervisor with the <br />Cabarrus County Health Department, was present to discuss various <br />matters relating to the County Landfill. <br /> The motion made by Commissioner payne and seconded by Commissioner <br />Barnhardt to cut the Landfill budget in the Equipment and Furniture line <br />item by $203,275.00 failed with Commissioners Barnhardt and Milloway <br />voting for and Commissioners Payne and Nash and Chairman Lentz voting <br />against. <br /> The motion by Commissioner Barnhardt to cut the full $303,275.00 from <br />the Equipment and Furniture line item of the Landfill budget failed for <br />lack of second. <br /> Motion was made by Commissioner Barnhardt and seconded by Commissioner <br />Milloway to cut $200,000.00 from the Equipment and Furniture line item of <br />the Landfill budget. No vote was taken for this motion. <br /> UPON SUBSTITUTE MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner <br />Nash with Commissioners Payne and Nash and Chairman Lentz voting for and <br />Commissioners Barnhardt and Milloway voting against, the Board agreed to <br />cut $103,275.00 from the Equipment and Furniture line item of the Landfill <br />budget. <br /> The motion by Commissioner Barnhardt and seconded by Commissioner <br />Milloway to cut $1,000.00 from the Lights and Power line item in the <br />Landfill budget failed with Commissioners Barnhardt and Milloway voting for <br />and Commissioners Payne and Nash and Chairman Lentz voting against. <br /> The Board reviewed the 1984-85 budget proposals from the Sanitary <br />Landfill through the Health Department. <br /> There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting <br />was adjourned. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
