583 <br /> <br /> The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met at the <br />County Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina, on Thursday, June 7, 1984, <br />at 7:00 P.M. to continue review of the proposed 1984-85 Budget. <br /> Present - Chairman: James W. Lentz <br /> Commissioners: Archie Y. Barnhardt <br /> Marcelle Milloway <br /> J. Harold Nash <br /> Kenneth F. Payne <br />The minutes were recorded by Mr. Blair D. Bennett, Finance Director. <br />The motion made by Commissioner Barnhardt and seconded by Commissioner <br />Milloway to cut out one position in the Recreation Department Budget <br />received the following vote: <br /> <br />Voting for - Commissioners Barnhardt and Milloway <br />Voting Against - Chairman Lentz and Commissioners Nash and Payne <br /> <br /> Commissioner Barnhardt made the motion to cut the Consultants <br />line item in the Recreation Budget to $2,000.00. Chairman Lentz <br />seconded the motion and voting was unanimous. <br /> The motion made by Commissioner Barnhardt and seconded by Commissioner <br />Milloway to cut $200,000.00 from the Revenue Sharing Budget for the <br />Courthouse Renovation line item failed with Commissioners Barnhardt and <br />Milloway voting for and Commissioners Payne and Nash and Chairman Lentz <br />voting against. <br /> The motion by Commissioner Barnhardt to cut $300,000.00 out of the <br />Library Construction Fund failed for lack of a second. <br /> Motion was made by Commissioner Barnhardt to provide a 5% across <br />the Board pay raise to all permanent full time employees. Commissioner <br />Milloway seconded the motion. No vote was taken. <br /> UPON SUBSTITUTE MOTION of Chairman Lentz, seconded by Commissioner <br />Nash with Commissioners Payne and Nash and Chairman Lentz voting for <br />and Commissioners Barnhardt and Milloway voting against, the Board agreed <br />to increase to 6% an across the Board raise to all permanent full time <br />employees. <br /> The meeting adjourned at 10:00 P.M. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
