85 <br /> <br /> The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in called <br />session at the County Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina, on Wednesday, <br />October 24, 1984, at 3:00 P.M. to receive information from the Farmers <br />Home Administration Director and from Mr. Jake Wicker of the Institute of <br />Government. <br /> Present - Chairman: James W. Lentz <br /> Commissioners: Marcelle Milloway <br /> J. Harold Nash <br /> Kenneth F. Payne <br /> Absent - Commissioner Archie Y. Barnhardt <br /> Chairman Lentz stated that this week was designated as National <br />Textile Week and proposed that a Proclamation be adopted by the Board of <br />Commissioners in recognition of this observance. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Nash, seconded by Commissioner Payne and <br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following Proclamation. <br /> <br />A PROCLAMATION <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is appropriate and timely that we recognize that the <br />textile industry is a thriving entity of great importance to Cabarrus <br />County and to North Carolina; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, we recognize that the textile industry is a major employer <br />representing many beneficial commercial enterprises in our state, coumty/ <br />and community; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, we recognize that textile employees share both a conscientious <br />pride in their daily labors and an honest dedication of time and effort to <br />their churches, schools and civic and community activities; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, we recognize that the textile industry is, and will continue <br />to be, vital to the very fabric of our communities and state; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners does <br />hereby proclaim the week of October 21-27, 1984, as National Textile Week <br />and respectfully requests that all who live in Cabarrus County take advantage <br />of this observance to learn more about the textile industry and the many <br />contributions it makes to our county and to the lives of our people. <br /> <br />ADOPTED: <br /> <br />CABARRUS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />October 24, 1984 <br /> <br />BY: <br /> <br />/s/ James W. Lentz, Chairman <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Nash and <br />unanimously carried, the Board moved to go into Executive Session with <br />Mr. Paul Watson, Engineer with Henningson, Durham and Richardson, Inc.: <br />Mr. Jake Wicker of the Institute of Government; Mr. W. T. Sorrell of the <br />Farmers Home Administration; and Mr. Thomas B. Robinson, Cabarrus County <br />Planning Director, to discuss legal concerns involving the water bond and <br />water agreement. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Nash and <br />unanimously carried, the Executive Session was terminated. <br /> Mr. John R. Boger, Jr., County Attorney, stated that the Board had <br />discussed a legal matter during the Executive Session and that no action <br />was taken. <br /> There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting <br />was adjourned. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
