110 <br /> <br />Change Order #1: Unit Item 3 (Eliminate $13,305.00) Water Mains~ Valve <br /> Fittings, Hydrants~ Fountains~ etc. <br />Change Order #2: Unit Item 4 (Eliminate $22,886.00) Electrical <br />Change Order #3: Unit Item 5 (Reduce by $900.00) Fencin~ and Installation <br /> of Tennis Court Accessories <br />Change Order #4: Unit Item 5 (Reduce by $8,400.00) Parkin~ Lot and <br /> Driveway Parkin~ <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Payne and unani- <br />mously carried, the Board accepted the bids as received for the Frank Liske <br />Park tennis courts complex and authorized the execution of the contract with <br />the low bidder, Wingate Paving Company, along with the necessary change orders <br />to bring the total project cost within the budgeted amount. Also present for the meeting <br />were Mr. Jim Nance, member of the North Carolina Board of Transportation, and <br />Mr. John Mitchum, Engineer with the Department of Transportation. In reviewing <br />the priority rating system for the roads throughout the state, Mr. Nance asked <br />for the Board's recommendation regarding the frequency of the rating procedure. <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Payne and unani- <br />mously carried, the Board recommended that the North Carolina Department of <br />Transportation continue its procedure to reevaluate the priority rating of <br />roads at two-year intervals. <br /> Chairman Lentz asked if anyone were present who wished to speak regarding <br />the proposed 1987-88 Secondary Roads Program. <br /> Mr. Jerry Isenhour of 85 Poplar Tent Road expressed concern regarding the <br />intersection at Eva Drive and Poplar Tent Road. <br /> Mr. Ken Cox who lives at the corner of Mills Circle and Irish Potato Road <br />asked for the paving of Mills Circle. He expressed concern regarding the <br />safety of persons traveling this road and stated this road had been up for <br />paving for 15 years. He requested that the Board exercise its authority to <br />call for a public hearing and proceed with a recommendation from the Board to <br />deviate from the recommendation made by the Department of Transportation. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Melvin, seconded by Commissioner Payne and <br />unanimously carried, the Board accepted the proposed 1987-88 Secondary Roads <br />Program for Cabarrus County as outlined by the representatives of the North <br />Carolina Department of Transportation. The 1987-88 Secondary Roads Program as <br />approved by the Board is as follows. <br /> <br /> <br />
