Also present for the meeting <br />were Mr. Jim Nance, member of the North Carolina Board of Transportation, and <br />Mr. John Mitchum, Engineer with the Department of Transportation. In reviewing <br />the priority rating system for the roads throughout the state, Mr. Nance asked <br />for the Board's recommendation regarding the frequency of the rating procedure. <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Payne and unani- <br />mously carried, the Board recommended that the North Carolina Department of <br />Transportation continue its procedure to reevaluate the priority rating of <br />roads at two-year intervals. <br /> Chairman Lentz asked if anyone were present who wished to speak regarding <br />the proposed 1987-88 Secondary Roads Program. <br /> Mr. Jerry Isenhour of 85 Poplar Tent Road expressed concern regarding the <br />intersection at Eva Drive and Poplar Tent Road. <br /> Mr. Ken Cox who lives at the corner of Mills Circle and Irish Potato Road <br />asked for the paving of Mills Circle. He expressed concern regarding the <br />safety of persons traveling this road and stated this road had been up for <br />paving for 15 years. He requested that the Board exercise its authority to <br />call for a public hearing and proceed with a recommendation from the Board to <br />deviate from the recommendation made by the Department of Transportation. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Melvin, seconded by Commissioner Payne and <br />unanimously carried, the Board accepted the proposed 1987-88 Secondary Roads <br />Program for Cabarrus County as outlined by the representatives of the North <br />Carolina Department of Transportation.
