135 <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Moss, seconded by Chairman Lentz with <br />Commissioners Moss, Hamby, and Melvin and Chairman Lentz voting for and <br />Commissioner Payne voting against, the Board changed the 1987-88 appropriation <br />to Rowan Technical College to $63,158.00. <br /> During review of the request for the $100,000.00 appropriation to the <br />Farmers Market, the Board discussed the possibility of the Cabarrus County <br />Agricultural Fair moving to the Farmers Market site. Commissioner Melvin <br />stated she would talk with Mr. Brady Black, President of the Piedmont Farmers <br />Market, and Commissioners Moss and Hamby agreed to talk with Mr. Clyde Propst, <br />General Manager of the Agricultural Fair, regarding this possibility. <br /> During review of the proposed budget for the Sheriff's Department, Mr. <br />Charles D. McGinnis pointed out that one of the five new recommended positions <br />would be deleted from that budget if the Town of Mt. Pleasant reduces the <br />number of deputy positions funded by the Town. <br /> Chairman Lentz scheduled additional budget sessions for 4:00 P.M. on <br />June 8 and June 9, 1987. <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Payne and unani- <br />mously carried, the Board moved to go into Executive Session to discuss <br />possible land acquisition. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hamby, seconded by Commissioner Payne and <br />unanimously carried, the Executive Session was terminated. <br /> Chairman Lentz stated that the Board had discussed possible land <br />acquisition and that the County Attorney would continue to negotiate for the <br />purchase of additional land for the Coddle Creek Reservoir. <br /> Motion was made by Commissioner Melvin and seconded by Commissioner Hamby <br />to accept Ms. Marie P. Greene as the Commissioners' selection to the Social <br />Services Board. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hamby, seconded by Commissioner Payne and <br />unanimously carried, the Board by acclamation appointed Ms. Marie P. Greene to <br />the Social Services Board for a three-year term ending June 30, 1990. <br /> Chairman Lentz recessed the meeting until 4:00 P.M. on Monday, June 8, <br />1987, at the General Services Building. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
