140 <br /> <br /> The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in regular <br />session at the County Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina, on Monday, <br />June 15, 1987, at 7:00 P.M. <br /> Present - Chairman: James W. Lentz <br /> Commissioners: Kenneth F. Payne <br /> William G. Hamby, Jr. <br /> Martha H. Melvin <br /> R. Giles Moss <br /> The invocation was given by The Very Reverend Robert L. Sessum of Ail <br />Saints Episcopal Church. <br /> Ms. Elizabeth Richardson, Attorney, served in the absence of Mr. Fletcher <br />L. Hartsell, Jr., County Attorney. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Melvin, seconded by Commissioner Payne and <br />unanimously carried, the minutes of May 20, May 26, and June 1, 1987, were <br />approved as written. <br /> Chairman Lentz stated that the meeting scheduled for July 6, 1987, was <br />cancelled and that the Board would not meet again, until July 20, 1987, unless <br />it was necessary to call a special meeting. <br /> Chairman Lentz stated that the public hearing regarding proposed Zoning <br />Atlas amendments would be held at this time. <br /> Mr. Larry Loving, Chairman of the Cabarrus County Planning Board, pre- <br />sented each of the proposed amendments as recommended by the Planning Board. <br />Mr. Phillip Kingsland, member of the County Planning staff, reviewed the <br />location of each of the areas proposed for rezoning. Public input was <br />received prior to action by the Board of Commissioners. <br /> <br />ZONING ATLAS AMENDMENTS <br /> <br />(1) <br /> <br />Petition 87-14. Butler Specialties, off Pitts School Road, township 2, <br />Map/PIN 5509-34-0797. Wishes to rezone from C-1 to C-4. Planning Board <br />voted unanimously to recommend denial. <br /> <br /> The Board acknowledged the withdrawal of this petition as requested in a <br />letter dated June 9, 1987, from Mr. Brian T. Butler, President of Butler <br />Specialties. <br /> <br />(2) <br /> <br />Petition 87-15. Cabarrus County Planning Department, off Pitts School <br />Road, township 2, Map/PIN 5509-24-5658, 8812, 34-0187, 0451, 9277. <br />Wishes to rezone from C-1 to C-4. Planning Board voted unanimously to <br />recommend denial. <br /> <br />This petition was withdrawn by the County Planning Department. <br /> <br />(3) <br /> <br />Petition 87-16. Carey Fisher Grey, off Highway 24/27, township 1, <br />Map/PIN 5524-68-1298. Wishes to rezone from ARR to C-4. Planning Board <br />voted unanimously to recommend denial. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Carey Fisher Grey requested a modification to the original zoning <br />petition to rezone the six acres at the rear of the property from ARR to <br />C-4 with the front portion of 1.4 acres to remain ARR. <br /> There was no one present to speak against the proposed rezoning. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Melvin, seconded by Commissioner Moss and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved Petition 87-16 by Carey Fisher Grey as <br />amended by Exhibit A presented to the Board by Mrs. Carey Fisher Grey rezoning <br />the rear six acres of the property located off Highway 24/27, Map/PIN <br />5524-68-1298, from ARR to C-4 with the front 1.4 acres remaining ARR.
