191 <br /> <br /> The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in special <br />session at the Cabarrus County Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina, on <br />Tuesday, September 29, 1987, at 7:00 P.M. The called meeting was for <br />consideration of matters of joint concern with the City of Concord including, <br />but not limited to, water and sewer issues and policies, the Coddle Creek <br />Reservoir Project and agreement, and other matters. <br /> Present - Chairman: James W. Lentz <br /> Commissioners: William H. Hamby, Jr. <br /> Martha H. Melvin <br /> R. Giles Moss <br /> Absent - Commissioner: Kenneth F. Payne <br /> The Board reviewed recent events relating to the Coddle Creek Reservoir <br />project and the conflict regarding the engineering firm for the project. The <br />Board of Commissioners has entered into a contract with HDR Infrastructure, <br />Inc. of North Carolina for the Coddle Creek Reservoir project. Members of the <br />Concord Board of Aldermen have indicated a preference for the engineering firm <br />of Peirson and Whitman, Inc. <br /> Chairman Lentz recessed the meeting at 7:50 P.M. for the Board of Commis- <br />sioners to travel to the Concord Municipal Building to meet jointly with the <br />Board of Aldermen at 8:00 P.M. <br /> Chairman Lentz reconvened the meeting of the Board of Commissioners at <br />8:00 P.M. in the Council Room at the Concord Municipal Building. <br /> Members of the Concord Board of Aldermen present for the meeting were as <br />follows: Mayor Pro Tem James L. Dorton, T. Laine Harling, Frank A. Dusch, <br />Jr., Robert L. Mathis, Jr., Wilson F. Cone, Jr., and Dr. Hector H. Henry. <br />Mayor Bernie A. Edwards was unable to attend due to illness. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hamby, seconded by Commissioner Melvin and <br />unanimously carried, the Board moved to go into Executive Session with the <br />Concord Board of Aldermen to discuss contractual matters. <br /> UPON MOTION of Co~missioner Hamby, seconded by Commissioner Melvin and <br />unanimously carried, the Executive Session was terminated. <br /> Chairman Lentz reported that the Board had been in Executive Session with <br />the Concord Board of Aldermen and that the Board had agreed to meet with the <br />Concord Board of Aldermen at 7:00 P.M. on October 13, 1987, at the County <br />Courthouse to continue discussions. <br /> There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was <br />adjourned at 10:50 P.M. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
