<br /> The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in special
<br />session at the County Courthouse on Monday, March 14, 1988, at 4:00 P.M. for
<br />the purpose of finalizing all matters and things necessary to complete the
<br />funding of the Black Run Dam Project with the Town of Mount Pleasant.
<br /> Present - Chairman: James W. Lentz
<br /> Commissioners: William G. Hamby, Jr.
<br /> Martha H. Melvin
<br /> R. Giles Moss
<br /> Absent - Commissioner: Kenneth F. Payne
<br /> Chairman Lentz reported that he had received a letter from Cabarrus
<br />Workshop, Inc., in regards to National Volunteer Week. By consensus of the
<br />Board, Chairman Lentz declared the week of April 17-23, 1988, as National
<br />Volunteer Week in Cabarrus County.
<br /> Mr. Fletcher L. Hartsell, Jr., County Attorney, presented a number of
<br />documents needed to complete the funding for the Black Run Dam Project.
<br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Melvin and
<br />unanimously carried, the Board ratified the execution of agreement dated
<br />September 2, 1987, for the funding of $350,000.00 a year for the fiscal years
<br />1988-89 and 1989-90 for the Black Run Dam Project.
<br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hamby, seconded by Chairman Lentz and
<br />unanimously carried, the Board authorized the execution of a deed transfer-
<br />ring a one-half interest of 49.148 acres from Cabarrus County back to the
<br />Town of Mount Pleasant subject to the terms of an agreement to be authorized
<br />today. The description of the property conveyed by the County is as follows.

<br /> LYING and being in Township Number 6, Cabarrus County, State of
<br />North Carolina, adjoining the property of Fred H. Harkey, Esther E.
<br />Foil, and A. L. Nash, situated on the waters of Saw Mill Creek, fronting
<br />on State Road No. 2416, and described by metes and bounds as follows:

<br /> BEGINNING at a nail in the center line of State Road No. 2416 at
<br />the point where said center line of said road is intersected by the
<br />common boundary line between the property of Fred H. Harkey and the
<br />property of Esther E. Foil, and running thence with the center line of
<br />said State Road No. 2416, N. 84-36-05 W. 336.96 feet to a tack in the
<br />center line of said road; thence, continuing with said road, N. 81-13-25
<br />W. 214.33 feet to a nail in the center line of a bridge spanning Saw
<br />Mill Creek; thence, continuing with the center line of said State Road
<br />No. 2416, N. 80-50-05 W. 129.48 feet; thence N. 5-34-40 E. 512.70 feet
<br />to a stake; thence N. 14-47-15 E. 87.35 feet to a stake; thence N.
<br />3-51-25 E. 175.26 feet to a stake; thence N. 48-46-30 E. 114.89 feet to

<br />31-35-54 E. 293.42 feet to an iron; thence, recrossing Saw Mill Creek,
<br />S. 9-00-06 W. 318.0 feet to a stake on the eastern bank of Saw Mill
<br />Creek; thence S. 73-11-20 W. 198.0 feet to an iron marking a corner of
<br />the Fred H. Harkey (now or formerly) property; thence, with the Harkey
<br />line, in two (2) calls as follows: (1) S. 5-57-35 W. 467.0 feet to an
<br />iron by a junction of hedgerows; and, (2) S. 37-57-40 W. 686.03 feet to
<br />the point or place of BEGINNING, containing 49.148 acres according to
<br />map thereof made by General Surveyors, Inc., Charlotte, North Carolina,
<br />dated May 27, 1970, and revised on June 2, 1970, reference to which map
<br />is hereby made for a more precise description of the property herein
<br />conveyed.
