Lentz <br /> <br /> Mr. Paul Watson, Engineer with HDR Engineering, Inc., reviewed the <br />supplemental geotechnical proposals from Law Engineering for work on the <br />Coddle Creek Reservoir project. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Chairman Lentz and unani- <br />mously carried, the Board moved that HDR Engineering, Inc., be permitted to <br />proceed with Law Engineering for the following proposals for the Coddle Creek <br />Reservoir Project and authorized the Chairman to execute the Law Engineering <br />proposals. <br /> <br />Law Proposal No. 267S8A <br />Proposal for Supplemental Geotechnical Exploration <br />N.C. Highway 73 Relocation and Coddle Creek Dam <br />Cabarrus County, North Carolina <br />Estimated Fee: Budget allowance of $11,000.00 for the scope of services <br /> outlined in the proposal for the roadway, including the written <br /> engineering report. Budget allowance of $4,000.00 for scope of <br /> services outlined in the proposal for the embankment dam, including <br /> written engineering report. Charges for the exploration will be <br /> computed from actual quantities of work performed and the <br /> appropriate unit prices shown on the Fee Schedule included as a part <br /> of the proposal. <br /> <br />Law Proposal No. 132M8 <br />Proposal for Laboratory Testing <br />Roller Compacted Concrete Trial Mix <br />Coddle Creek Dam <br />Cabarrus County, North Carolina <br />Estimated Fee: Budget allowance of $6,500.00 for the scope of services <br /> outlined in the proposal, including interim reports and a final <br /> report. Charges for the exploration, testing and reporting will be <br /> computed from actual quantities of work performed and the <br /> appropriate unit prices shown on the Fee Schedule included as a <br /> part of the proposal. <br /> <br /> Law Proposals No. 267S8A and No. 132M8 are on file in the Office of the <br />County Manager and are included by reference as a part of the minutes. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Hamby and <br />unanimously carried, the Board appointed Mr. Dennis Abraham to the Cabarrus <br />Utilities Board to serve at-large from the unincorporated areas of Cabarrus <br />County. <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Hamby and unani- <br />mously carried, the Board moved to go into Executive Session to discuss a <br />personnel matter and pending litigation. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Moss, seconded by Commissioner Payne and <br />unanimously carried, the Executive Session was terminated. <br /> Chairman Lentz reported the Board had been in Executive Session discuss- <br />ing pending litigation with the County Attorney and a personnel matter. <br /> The Board cancelled the regular meeting of the Board scheduled for July <br />4, 1988. The next regular meeting of the Board will be held at the scheduled <br />time on July 11 at 4:00 P.M. <br /> Commissioner Melvin reported that Mr. Dennis Yates, Architect, had <br />recommended a contract period of 120 days for the completion of the third <br />floor of the County Courthouse in order to attract more bidders and to secure <br />better prices. The Board by consensus agreed to allow a contract period of <br />120 days subject to approval by the general contractor for the Jail addition <br />project. <br /> The item on the agenda regarding the proposed 1988-89 Cabarrus County <br />budget was not discussed on this date due to lack of time. <br /> Chairman Lentz recessed the meeting until 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 21, <br />1988, at the General Services Administration Building. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
