Ruffin, County Manager, reported that one bid was
received on December 21, 1988 for the construction of a sedimentation basin
at the Cabarrus County Sanitary Landfill. Bids were solicited twice for
this work.
UPON MOTION of Commissioner Melvin, seconded by Chairman Lentz and
unanimously carried, the Board awarded the bid for the construction of a
sedimentation basin at the Sanitary Landfill to the one bidder, J. F. Carter
& Company, Inc., in the amount of $28,497.72.
Commissioner Simmons made a presentation comparing the economic impact
of building an airport on the proposed Poplar Tent site located in Section A
of the Kings Grant property or approving the Kings Grant project which
provides for residential housing and a golf course in Section A. According
to Commissioner Simmons, the residential housing would be less expensive to
the county than the proposed airport.
There being no further business to come before the board, the meeting
was adjourned at 7:50 P.M.

Clerk to the Board
