73 <br /> <br /> A PROCLAMATION TO ESTABLISH <br /> The Week of April 9-15, 1989 <br />AS <br />"CABARRUS COUNTY VOLUNTEER WEEK" <br />In Conjunction with <br />"NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK" <br /> <br />WHEREAS: <br /> <br />The Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners recognizes one <br />of our most valuable resources; the Cabarrus County <br />Volunteer. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />volunteering of one's time and resources has traditionally <br />been, and continues to be, an elemental part of the <br />essence and tradition of our county and is essential to <br />its spirit and vitality; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, we are a nation of people who thrive on helping others as <br /> well as ourselves to a better life; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />citizen volunteers in our community have reached a <br />realization that government .- federal, state or local - <br />neither can nor should provide every service necessary to <br />build a better environment; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the varied needs of our community's citizens require the <br />involvement and support of many different community <br />agencies in facilitating those volunteers~ involvement; <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, during the week of April 9 - 15, 1989 shall know this <br /> date as "Cabarrus County Volunteer Week" with a purpose <br /> to commend her volunteers for the outstanding role each <br /> play in fulfilling the needs of a very special group of <br /> our community's citizens. <br /> <br />Adopted this the 3rd day of April, 1989. <br /> <br /> /s/ James W. Small, Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hamby, seconded by Commissioner Melvin and <br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following Proclamation. <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the Cabarrus County Board of Realtors is joining with the <br />National Association of Realtors in the celebration of American <br />Home Week, this year themed "Creating a Nation of Neighbors"; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the Cabarrus County Board of Realtors will sponsor <br />community-oriented programs and activities designed to call <br />attention to the freedom to own private property and to emphasize <br />the value of home ownership and other property ownership as well as <br />the importance of improving property locally; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the value of private property is considered not only in monetary <br />sense, but in the sense of the inherent worth of property as it <br />pertains to the enjoyment of life locally. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the Cabarrus County Board of Realtors is working to increase <br />public awareness of these rights, and to involve local citizens <br />in the improvement of private property. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, I, James W. Lentz, Chairman of the Cabarrus County Board <br />of Commissioners, do hereby proclaim April 30 May 6, 1989 as American Home <br />Week in Cabarrus County and urge local citizens to join with the Cabarrus County <br />Board of Realtors in celebrating the rights of Americans to own private <br />property. <br /> <br /> <br />
