Lentz, Chairman <br /> <br /> Mr. Fletcher L. Hartsell, Jr., County Attorney, reported that the <br />meeting scheduled for today with the City of Concord had been postponed <br />by the City for clarification on three items of the proposed Coddle Creek <br />Reservoir Agreement. These items related to the pump station, the actual <br />operation and maintenance expense of the Reservoir (the"AME"), and the <br />payment schedule for the purchase of land owned by the City. He stated <br />the agreement could be modified to resolve the pump station and AME <br />concerns, but asked for direction from the Board regarding the payment <br />schedule. The Board by consensus agreed for the payment of $28,000.00 <br />to the City of Concord at the time of closing with a $325,000.00 annual <br />payment to be made over the next four fiscal years. <br /> At 3:30 P.M. the Board members visited the Lippard property located <br />near Corban Avenue, Lenmore Drive, and Deal Road. This property is <br />currently being considered as the site of the future Senior Center. <br /> The Board then traveled to the Highway 73 West Community to view the <br />improvements to that area funded by a Community Development Block Grant. <br /> The Board returned to the Courthouse for dinner at 5:30 P.M. <br />Commissioner Moss was absent for the remainder of the meeting. <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Hamby with <br />Chairman Lentz and Commissioners Hamby, Melvin, and Simmons voting for, <br />the Board by resolution authorized the Chairman to write a letter to the <br />Local Government and Regional Affairs Committee of the North Carolina <br />Senate expressing the Board's opposition to Senate Bill 643 which would <br />divide Cabarrus County into districts and expand the Board of <br />Commissioners to a seven-member Board. <br /> There being no further business to come before the Board, Chairman <br />Lentz recessed the meeting until 3:00 P.M. on Monday, April 17, 1989. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
