Lentz <br /> <br /> Chairman <br />Board of County Commissioners <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Moss, seconded by Chairman Lentz and <br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following proclamation. <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />motorcycles provide both an important method of <br />transportation and a recreational pastime; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />motorcycle riding is a popular sport enjoyed by many <br />of our citizens; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />motorcycle riders and enthusiasts in Cabarrus County <br />have formed the Cabarrus Chapter of the Concerned <br />Bikers Association; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the Cabarrus Chapter has joined a state-wide effort to <br />promote a public awareness program to make drivers more <br />aware of motorcycles on the public roads and to <br />encourage safety at all times. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, I, James W. Lentz, Chairman of the Cabarrus <br />County Board of Commissioners do hereby proclaim the month of May <br />as Motorcycle Awareness Month in Cabarrus County and commend this <br />observance to our citizens. <br /> <br />This the 1st day of May, 1989. <br /> <br />/s/ James W. Ruffin, County Manager, presented the proposed Fiscal Year <br />1989-1990 Cabarrus County Budget to the Board of Commissioners. <br /> The Board was reminded of its meeting with the Board of Health on Monday, <br />May 8, 1989 at 4:00 P.M. to discuss the proposed recycling program for Cabarrus <br />County. <br /> Commissioner Simmons reported that the Cabarrus Utilities Board had <br />approved a formula whereby each taxing authority in the county would pay a <br />percentage of the cost for a sewer authority study based upon the population of <br />that entity. This item will be placed on the agenda for May 15. <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Moss and <br />unanimously carried, the Board moved to go into executive session to consider <br />possible land acquisition; to consider the possible settlement of an existing <br />claim; to consult with the County Attorney; to discuss matters relating to the <br />location or expansion of industries or other businesses in the county; and to <br />consider and give instructions relating to the setting or negotiation of <br />contracts, including leases, concerning the use of airport facilities. <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Moss and <br />unanimously carried, the executive session was terminated. No action was reported. <br /> There being no further business to come before the Board, Chairman Lentz <br />recessed the meeting until 4:00 P.M. on Monday, May 8, 1989. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
