March 21, 2016 (Regular Meeting) Page 2670 <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Poole, seconded by Vice Chairman Honeycutt <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved the Agenda as amended. <br />(C) RECOGNITIONS AND PRESENTATIONS <br />(C -1) Human Resources - Recognition of Deputy Pamela Ford on <br />Retirement from Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office <br />Sheriff Brad Riley, Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office, recognized Deputy <br />Pamela Ford an her retirement from her position with the Cabarrus County <br />Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Riley expressed appreciation for her 26 years of <br />dedicated service to Cabarrus County_ <br />Vice Chairman Honeycutt presented a service award in appreciation of <br />her service and dedication to the county. <br />Deputy Ford accepted the award and expressed appreciation. <br />C -2) EMS - Recognition of Michael Morrison <br />Alan Thompson, EMS (Emergency Medical Services) Director, <br />recognized Michael Morrison, DHS (Department of Human Services), for <br />life- saving actions during his lunch break at a local restaurant on <br />March 9, 2016. Mr. Thompson stated this event occurred just one week <br />following the County's annual CPR Training. He presented Mr. Morrison <br />with the EMS Meritorious Service Award in recognition of life - saving <br />action. <br />Mr. Morrison accepted the award and expressed appreciation. <br />(C -3) Planning and Development - Cabarrus Soil and Water Conservation <br />District - Recognition of Annual Conservation Contest Winners <br />Erin Lineburger, Resource Conservation Coordinator, recognized <br />contestants, family members and school personnel for their support of the <br />conservation education "We All Live in a Watershed ?" contest sponsored by the <br />North Carolina Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts. The <br />following participants were recognized. <br />3rd Grade Poster Contest <br />1st place- Aubrey Howard, Carolina International School; Aubrey also placed <br />2nd at the Area level. <br />2nd place- Alexa Poplaski, Jackson Park Elementary School <br />3rd place- Lauren Laatsch, Carolina International School <br />4th Grade Poster Contest <br />1st place- Asmaa Alothman, Carolina International School; Asmaa also placed <br />2nd at the Area level. <br />2nd place - Bowen Powell, Patriots STEM Elementary School <br />3rd place- Kate Bynum, R. Brown McAllister Elementary School <br />5th Grade Poster Contest <br />1st place- Skylar Couture, Cannon School; Skylar also placed 2nd at the Area <br />level. <br />2nd place- Leah Morse, Patriots STEM Elementary <br />3rd place- Leighton Evans, Cannon School <br />6th Grade Poster Contest <br />lst place- Rachel Earl, Northwest Cabarrus Middle School; Rachel Earl also <br />placed 3rd at the Area level. <br />2nd place- Kaylee Wiser, Northwest Cabarrus Middle School <br />3rd place- Clifton Vandiver, Northwest Cabarrus Middle School <br />6th Grade Essay Contest <br />lst place- Grace Conner, CC Griffin Middle School <br />6th Grade Computer Designed Slideshow Contest <br />1st place- Paige Starnes, JN Fries Magnet Middle School; Paige also placed <br />3rd at the Area level. <br />7th Grade Public Speaking Contest <br />
