Morris, Chairman <br />ATTEST: <br />/s/ Megan Smit <br />Clerk to the Board <br />(F -4) YAM - Construction and Demolition Landfill - Expansion Option <br />Infrastructure and Asset Management (IAM) and Finance staff provided <br />information regarding the option of extending the operating life of the <br />Cabarrus County Construction and Demolition Landfill. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Poole, seconded by Commissioner Shue and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved expansion of the existing landfill <br />operating cell. <br />(F -5) Planning and DeveloEment - Duke Helping Home Grant Funds <br />The North Carolina Community Action Agency in conjunction with Duke <br />Energy has made funding available that is designed to expand local <br />Weatherization Services. Cabarrus County is eligible for $75,000.00 in <br />funding that can be used for HVAC replacements, the purchase of certain <br />energy efficient appliances, and health and safety improvements in the home. <br />Cabarrus County has been using the Duke Energy Carolina (DEC) grant program <br />for the past year. The DEC program is a rebate program that has allowed <br />staff to expand services. Staff is requesting permission to participate in <br />the Duke Helping Homes grant program. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Poole, seconded by Commissioner Shue and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved participation in the Duke Helping <br />Homes grant program and authorized the County Manager to execute the <br />contracts. <br />Date: 4/13/2016 Amount:$75,000 <br />Dept. This is a <br />new grant. There is not a County match. Pursuant to N.C.G.S. 20- 187.2, it is requested <br />that Deputy Howell's service weapon (Sig Sauer P226, 40 caliber, serial <br />number 47A042238) be declared surplus and awarded to him for the price of <br />$1.00. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Poole, seconded by Commissioner Shue and <br />unanimously carried, the Board declared a service weapon (Sig Sauer P226, 40 <br />caliber, serial number 47A042238) as surplus property and awarded it to <br />Deputy Howell for the price of $1.00 upon his retirement. <br />F -7) Tax Administration - Refund and Release Report - March 2016 <br />Release report contains taxpayers' names, bill numbers, valuations, tax <br />amounts, along with the justifications for releasing the valuation /tax <br />amounts for outstanding levies in accordance with N.C.G.S. 105 -381.
