May 16, 2016 (Regular Meeting) <br />Page 2717 <br />urge all citizens to pause for a moment of silence at noon on May 30, 2016 to <br />honor and to reflect on the memory of our fallen heroes of the Armed Forces. <br />Adopted this the 16th day of May, 2016. <br />Os/ Stephen M. Morris, Chairman <br />Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br />/s/ Megan Smit <br />Megan Smit, Clerk to the Board <br />(C -4) EMS - EMS Week Proclamation <br />Chairman Morris read the proclamation aloud. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Mynatt, seconded by Commissioner Shue and <br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following proclamation. <br />Proclamation No. 2016 -11 <br />CABARRUS COUNTY <br />North Carolina <br />P R O C L A M A T I O N <br />WHEREAS, emergency medical services is a vital public service; and <br />WHEREAS, the members of emergency medical services teams are ready to provide <br />lifesaving care to those in need 24 hours a day, seven days a week; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, access to quality emergency care dramatically improves the survival <br />and recovery rate of those who experience sudden illness or injury; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, emergency medical services teams consist of emergency physicians, <br />emergency nurses, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, <br />firefighters, educators, administrators, and others; and <br />WHEREAS, the members of emergency medical services teams, whether career or <br />volunteer, engage in thousands of hours of specialized training and <br />continuing education enhance their lifesaving skills; and <br />WHEREAS, Americans benefit daily from the knowledge and skills of these <br />highly trained individuals; and <br />WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize the value and the accomplishments of <br />emergency medical service providers by designating Emergency <br />Medical Services Week; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that we, the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners, in recognition of this event do hereby proclaim the week of May <br />15 - 21, 2016, as <br />CABARRUS COUNTY EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WEEK <br />Adopted this 16th day of May, 2016. <br />/s/ Stephen M.
