October 17, 2016 (Regular Meeting) .Page 2901 <br />WHEREAS, October 23 -31 has been designated National Red Ribbon Week, which <br />encourages Americans to wear a red ribbon to show their support for a drug -free <br />environment; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners, do hereby proclaim October 23 -31 as RED RIBBON WEEK in Cabarrus <br />County, and urges all citizens to join in this special observance. <br />Adopted this the 17th day of October, 2016. <br />/s/ Stephen M. Morris, Chairman <br />Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br />Jonathan Henderson, Mecklenburg County Young Marines, Unit Commander, <br />commented on the purpose and efforts of the Young Marines group. <br />(D) INFORMAL COMMENTS <br />Chairman Morris opened the meeting for Informal Public Comments at 6:44 <br />p.m. He stated each speaker would be limited to three minutes. <br />Rose Rummel -Fury, Concord Wildlife Alliance (an Affiliate of North <br />Carolina Wildlife Federation), Secretary, commented that Robin Hayes received <br />the Sportsman of the Year award. <br />With there being no one else to address the Board, Chairman Morris closed <br />that portion of the meeting. <br />(E) OLD BUSINESS <br />None. <br />F) CONSENT <br />(F -1) Funding Request for New High School Architectural Fees and Site Analysis <br />The Cabarrus County Schools (CCS) Board of Education requests funding for <br />two projects: $306,000.00 for architectural .fees for the first phase of the <br />new high school design including traffic study (inclusive of both high school <br />and potential location of the performance learning center), and $30,000.00 to <br />conduct a site suitability study at the current site of R. Brown McAllister <br />Elementary School. The total funding request is 336,000.00. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Shue, seconded by Commissioner Mynatt and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the funding request and adopted the <br />associated budget amendments and project ordinances. <br />Date.10 /17/2016 Amount. $344, 917. 00 <br />Dept.
