Morris <br /> Vice Chairman: Diane R. Honeycutt <br /> Commissioners: Grace M. Mynatt <br /> Elizabeth F. Poole <br /> Lynn W. Shue <br /> Also present were Mike Downs, County Manager; Richard M. Koch, County <br /> Attorney; Pam Dubois, Senior Deputy County Manager; Jonathan Marshall, Deputy <br /> County Manager; Kyle Bilafer, Area Manager and Megan Smit, Clerk to the Board. <br /> Call to Order <br /> Chairman Morris called the meeting to order at 6: 15 p.m. <br /> Approval of Agenda <br /> Chairman Morris presented the following changes to the Agenda: <br /> Additions: <br /> Discussion Items for Action <br /> 4.11 County Manager - Review of Enhanced Voluntary Agricultural District <br /> Revocation <br /> Closed Session <br /> 6.1 Closed Session - Economic Development and Pending Litigation <br /> Supplemental Information: <br /> Discussion Items for Action at December 19, 2016 Meeting <br /> 4 .4 County Manager - Rob Wallace Park Construction Update and Project <br /> Ordinance <br /> • Rob Wallace Park Site Plan <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Mynatt, seconded by Commissioner Shue and <br /> unanimously carried, the Board approved the Agenda as amended. <br /> Discussion Items - No Action <br /> Communications and Outreach - Journeys <br /> Kasia Thompson, Communications and Outreach Manager, presented the <br /> inaugural issue of "Journeys" (a magazine for ages 50+) , which is an outcome of <br /> the Cabarrus County Aging Strategic Plan. The publication illustrates the <br /> impact of these resources through the personal stories of local seniors. It <br /> also includes tips and resources from local experts who incorporate strategies <br /> to improve the quality of life of seniors in Cabarrus County. Ms. Thompson <br /> stated the publication will be issued three times a year and will be available <br /> in print at various locations throughout the county as well as online. She <br /> then introduced Annette Young, featured in the first issue of "Journeys" for <br /> her participation in the latest archery class and involvement at the Senior <br /> Centers. <br /> Ms. Young commented briefly on the quality of the senior centers and the <br /> addition of the publication to senior programming. <br /> DHS - Child Welfare Update <br /> Ben Rose, Human Services Director, presented a PowerPoint presentation on <br /> the strategies and services within the Child Welfare Department titled "Child <br /> Welfare: Protecting Our Future". <br /> The presentation included the following topics: <br /> • Child Welfare Services <br /> • Social Workers: Child Welfare Super Heroes <br /> • Challenges We Face <br /> • How We Are Facing Challenges <br /> • Our Goals and Impacts <br /> Mr. Rose recognized Cheryl Harris, Child Welfare Program Administrator, <br /> who also introduced her management team. Team members present were: Kelly <br /> Hinebaugh, Program Manager for In Home Services; Kathy Rucker, Training <br />
