January 27, 2017 (Board Retreat) Page 3012 <br /> The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met for a Board <br /> Retreat at the Cabarrus Arena and Events Center in Concord, North Carolina on <br /> Friday, January 27, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. <br /> Present - Chairman: Stephen M. Morris <br /> Vice Chairman: Diane R. Honeycutt <br /> Commissioners: F. Blake Kiger <br /> Elizabeth F. Poole <br /> Lynn W. Shue <br /> Also present were Mike Downs, County Manager; Pam Dubois, Senior Deputy <br /> County Manager; Jonathan Marshall, Deputy County Manager; Kyle Bilafer, Area <br /> Manager; and Megan Smit, Clerk to the Board. <br /> Chairman Morris called the meeting to order at 4:06 p.m. <br /> Welcome, Introductions and Overview <br /> County Manager Mike Downs welcomed staff and guests and reviewed the <br /> retreat agenda for the day. <br /> Economic Forecast <br /> Sarah House, Wells Fargo Securities, Vice President and Economist, <br /> presented a PowerPoint presentation titled "U.S. & Charlotte Economic Outlook." <br /> Topics included: U.S. growth outlook, labor market and inflation, monetary <br /> policy, upside and downside risks. <br /> Dinner Break <br /> The Board took a dinner break at 5:38 p.m. The meeting resumed at 6:22 <br /> p.m. <br /> Working Together <br /> Kasia Thompson, Communications and Outreach Manager, and Megan Smit, <br /> Assistant to the County Manager and Clerk to the Board, facilitated a team- <br /> building session titled "Discovering our Brand Personality. " Topics included: <br /> the upcoming branding project, employees as brand ambassadors, brand identity, <br /> etc. <br /> Recess <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Shue, seconded by Vice Chairman Honeycutt, <br /> and unanimously carried, the meeting recessed at 7:58 p.m. to 8 : 00 a.m. <br /> Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the Cabarrus Arena and Events Center. <br /> Megan Smit, erk to the Board <br />
