March 6, 2017 (Work Session) Page 3047 <br /> p.m. or as soon thereafter as persons may be heard to consider the renewal of <br /> non-emergency transport services provider, American TransMed. <br /> Discussion Items - No Action <br /> IT - Website Redesign <br /> Debbie Brannan, Chief Information Officer, presented a PowerPoint <br /> presentation to update the Board on the website redesign titled "Website <br /> Redesign Project 2017". <br /> Topics included in the presentation were: <br /> • Review of past county website iterations <br /> • Core values to emphasize within the website redesign <br /> • Website goals to achieve vision <br /> • Tools for continuous improvement design <br /> • Decision tools - Deciding what's important <br /> • Decision tools - Website analytics <br /> • Decision Tools for thoughtful design, identifying core pages <br /> • The redesign process - RFQ <br /> • Redesign next steps <br /> A discussion ensued. During discussion, Ms. Brannan responded to <br /> questions from the Board. Mike Downs, County Manager, provided comments <br /> regarding the direction of county services and how the website would aid <br /> customer access for a variety of services. <br /> Communications and Outreach - Branding Discussion <br /> Kasia Thompson, Communications and Outreach Manager, presented a <br /> PowerPoint presentation titled "Branding Project" and responded to questions <br /> from the Board. <br /> The following topics were included in the presentation: <br /> • Scope of the project <br /> • The process <br /> • Contract award <br /> • Timeline <br /> • What to expect <br /> • Next steps <br /> Discussion Items for Action at March 20, 2017 Meeting (Continued) <br /> CCS - Capital Funding Request for Mobile Units and Bus Purchases <br /> Kelly Kluttz, Cabarrus County Schools (CCS) , Chief Financial Officer, <br /> requested funding for the purchase of 20 mobile units at a cost of $2, 400,000.00 <br /> and 10 yellow school buses, at a cost of $880, 000.00, for a total of <br /> $3,280, 000.00. She stated the request is due to growth in student population <br /> and the items are needed for the next school term. She advised projections are <br /> in the early stages. <br /> A lengthy discussion ensued. During discussion, Ms. Kluttz and Susan <br /> Fearrington, Finance Director, responded to a variety of questions from the <br /> Board. <br /> CCS - Funding Request for Performance Learning Center Engineering, Architect <br /> and Administrative/Legal Fees <br /> Kelly Kluttz, Cabarrus County Schools (CCS) , Chief Financial Officer, <br /> submitted a funding request for $219, 000.00 for a new Performance Learning <br /> Center (PLC) and responded to questions from the Board. <br /> CCS - Funding Request for the New High School Land and Legal/Administration <br /> Kelly Kluttz, Cabarrus County Schools (CCS) , Chief Financial Officer, <br /> requested funding in the amount of $164, 342.00 (land easement, $84, 342.00 and <br /> administrative/legal fees, $80, 000.00) for the new high school to be located on <br /> Weddington Road. <br /> KCS - Capital Funding Request for Bus Purchases <br />
