May 23, 2017 (Budget Meeting) Page 3165 Ms. Carpenter presented a review of the following items. • Travel Media Showcase in FY18 (Conference) • Opened two new extended stay properties • Wayfinding program • Employment of a Marketing Agency • Destination Guide UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Honeycutt, seconded by Commissioner Shue and unanimously carried, the Board suspended its Rules of Procedure in order to take action on this item due to time constraints. UPON MOTION of Commissioner Shue, seconded by Vice Chairman Honeycutt and unanimously carried, the Board approved the Convention and Visitors Bureau/Tourism Authority's FY 2018 budget totaling $5, 697, 614 .00.00, in accordance with Article IV, Room Occupancy and Tourism Development Tax, Tourism Authority of the Cabarrus County Code of Ordinances. Break The Board took a short break at 6:09 p.m. The meeting resumed at 6:28 p.m. Carolina Farm Stewardship Association (CFSA) - Lomax Farm Roland McReynolds, CFSA (Carolina Farm Stewardship Association) , Executive Director, presented a PowerPoint presentation of 2016 activity at the Lomax Incubator Farm. The report included the following items along with a video of the Lomax Farm as part of the Carolinas Organic Project. • Training farmers • Extending seasons • Diversified funds • Increased publicity • Expandable outreach • Hosted events A discussion ensued. Mike Downs, County Manager reported CFSA is requesting $40, 000. 00 for the Lomax Farm Budget. He stated the proposed budget includes $35, 000.00 for the Lomax Farm Budget based on the Boards' decision for the Farm in 2016. Commissioners Poole and Shue expressed support for CFSA' s budget request. Aaron Newton, Lomax Farm Manager, and Mary Beth Miller, Lomax Farm Coordinator, were also in attendance. Cabarrus Health Alliance - Presentation of FY18 Budget Request James Mack, Public Health Authority of Cabarrus County, Chairman, provided opening comments for the Cabarrus Health Alliance (CHA) FY18 budget request. He then introduced the following Cabarrus Health Alliance staff in attendance: Sue Yates, Chief Financial Officer; Erin Shoe, Chief Executive Officer; Ryan McGhee, Chief Technology Officer and Kim Ragan, Nursing Supervisor. Ms. Yates and Ms. Shoe presented a PowerPoint presentation of the CHA budget request of $6, 729, 671.00. Topics included in the presentation were as follows: • The 2017-2018 budget request • Part-time Mary Francis Wall school nurse • School health - Increase health insurance coverage • On-site environmental health vehicles (This space was left intentionally blank)
