May 23, 2017 (Budget Meeting) Page 3165 <br /> Ms. Carpenter presented a review of the following items. <br /> • Travel Media Showcase in FY18 (Conference) <br /> • Opened two new extended stay properties <br /> • Wayfinding program <br /> • Employment of a Marketing Agency <br /> • Destination Guide <br /> UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Honeycutt, seconded by Commissioner Shue and <br /> unanimously carried, the Board suspended its Rules of Procedure in order to <br /> take action on this item due to time constraints. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Shue, seconded by Vice Chairman Honeycutt and <br /> unanimously carried, the Board approved the Convention and Visitors <br /> Bureau/Tourism Authority's FY 2018 budget totaling $5, 697, 614 .00.00, in <br /> accordance with Article IV, Room Occupancy and Tourism Development Tax, Tourism <br /> Authority of the Cabarrus County Code of Ordinances. <br /> Break <br /> The Board took a short break at 6:09 p.m. The meeting resumed at 6:28 <br /> p.m. <br /> Carolina Farm Stewardship Association (CFSA) - Lomax Farm <br /> Roland McReynolds, CFSA (Carolina Farm Stewardship Association) , <br /> Executive Director, presented a PowerPoint presentation of 2016 activity at the <br /> Lomax Incubator Farm. The report included the following items along with a <br /> video of the Lomax Farm as part of the Carolinas Organic Project. <br /> • Training farmers <br /> • Extending seasons <br /> • Diversified funds <br /> • Increased publicity <br /> • Expandable outreach <br /> • Hosted events <br /> A discussion ensued. <br /> Mike Downs, County Manager reported CFSA is requesting $40, 000. 00 for the <br /> Lomax Farm Budget. He stated the proposed budget includes $35, 000.00 for the <br /> Lomax Farm Budget based on the Boards' decision for the Farm in 2016. <br /> Commissioners Poole and Shue expressed support for CFSA' s budget request. <br /> Aaron Newton, Lomax Farm Manager, and Mary Beth Miller, Lomax Farm <br /> Coordinator, were also in attendance. <br /> Cabarrus Health Alliance - Presentation of FY18 Budget Request <br /> James Mack, Public Health Authority of Cabarrus County, Chairman, provided <br /> opening comments for the Cabarrus Health Alliance (CHA) FY18 budget request. <br /> He then introduced the following Cabarrus Health Alliance staff in attendance: <br /> Sue Yates, Chief Financial Officer; Erin Shoe, Chief Executive Officer; Ryan <br /> McGhee, Chief Technology Officer and Kim Ragan, Nursing Supervisor. <br /> Ms. Yates and Ms. Shoe presented a PowerPoint presentation of the CHA <br /> budget request of $6, 729, 671.00. Topics included in the presentation were as <br /> follows: <br /> • The 2017-2018 budget request <br /> • Part-time Mary Francis Wall school nurse <br /> • School health - Increase health insurance coverage <br /> • On-site environmental health vehicles <br /> (This space was left intentionally blank) <br />
