He stated that drug overdoses kill more people than <br /> car accidents and gun homicides combined. Additionally, Dr. Pilkington shared <br /> that Cabarrus County is leading every other county in North Carolina in opioid <br /> and heroin overdoses and emergency room visits. <br /> Dr. Pilkington introduced the Forum' s Moderator Marcella Beam, Executive <br /> Director, Cabarrus Health Alliance. Ms. Beam introduced Dr. Ranota Hall, <br /> Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, Cardinal Innovations. Dr. <br /> Hall spoke of the interest of her organization regarding this epidemic. Cardinal <br /> Innovations has hired additional staff, is committed to a strategic plan, and <br /> have developed critical initiatives for the prevention, intervention, education <br /> and training to assist with the opioid issue. <br />
