October 20, 2014 (regular Meeting) Page 2192 <br />(H -1) Appointments and Removals - Adult Care Home Community Advi <br />Committee <br />Dora Fulton's term of appointment on the Adult Care Home Community <br />Advisory Committee ended September 30, 2014. Ms. Fulton has served one year <br />and does not wish to serve another term. It is requested to remove her name <br />from the committee roster. <br />Mary Stewart's term of appointment on the Adult Care Home Community <br />Advisory Committee ends October 31, 2014. Ms. Stewart has served one year and <br />does not wish to serve another term. It is requested to remove her name from <br />the committee roster, effective October 31. <br />An application was received from La Shonda Sparks to serve on the Adult <br />Care Home Community Advisory Committee. She has been prequalified by Laurie <br />Abounader, Regional Ombudsman, and is recommended for an initial one -year <br />appointment. <br />UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Burrage, seconded by Commissioner Measmer <br />and unanimously carried, the Board removed Dora Fulton and Mary Stewart from <br />the Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee roster and thanked them for <br />their service. By the same vote, the Board appointed La Shcnda Sparks to the <br />Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee for a one -year term ending <br />October 31, 2015. <br />(H -2) Appointments - Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC) <br />Cameron McKnight (Kannapolis City Schools) and Hunter Moore (Cabarrus <br />County Schools) have submitted an application to serve on the Juvenile Crime <br />Prevention Council (JCPC). Hunter Moore currently serves on the Cabarrus <br />County Youth Council. An exception to the "multiple service" provision of <br />the Appointment Policy will be needed for him. <br />The JCPC voted to recommend the Board of Commissioners appoint Mr. <br />McKnight and Mr. Moore to serve on the JCPC as the "Student under 18" <br />representatives. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Morris, seconded by Commissioner Measmer <br />and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Cameron McKnight (Kannapolis <br />City Schools) and Hunter Moore (Cabarrus County Schools) as "Student under <br />18" representatives for two -year terms ending June 30, 2016; including an <br />exception to the "multiple service" provision of the Appointment Policy for <br />Mr. Moore. <br />(H -3) Appointments - Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee <br />Mary Bost's term of appointment on the Nursing Home Community Advisory <br />Committee ends October 31, 2014. Ms. Bost wishes to serve another term. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Measmer, seconded by Vice Chairman Burrage <br />and unanimously carried, the Board reappointed Mary Bost to the Nursing Home <br />Community Advisory Committee for a three -year term ending October 31, 2017. <br />(I) REPORTS <br />(I -1) County Manager - Monthly Reports on Building Activity <br />The Board received the Cabarrus County Construction Standards Dodge <br />Report for September 2014 and the Cabarrus County Commercial Building Plan <br />Review Summary for September 2014 for informational purposes as part of the <br />Agenda. No action was required of the Board. <br />(1 -2) EDC - September 2014 Monthly Summary Report <br />The Board received the Cabarrus Economic Development Corporation (EDC) <br />monthly report for the month of September as part of the Agenda. No action <br />was required of the Board. <br />(I -5) BOC - Receive Updates from Commission Members Who Serve as Liaisons to <br />Municipalities or on Various Boards /Committees <br />None. <br />(I -6) Request for Applications for County Boards /Committees <br />
