Fearrington <br />Printed Name of County Finance Officer <br />(G -2) DHS - Economic Services Enhanced Rate Plan <br />Ben Rose, Human Services Director, advised a detailed presentation <br />requesting the addition of 15 temporary positions and 4 permanent positions <br />was presented to the Board at the October 6, 2014 work session to address <br />short -term and long -term solutions regarding the use of the Department's 75 <br />percent enhanced rate. The Board approved the addition of the 15 temporary <br />positions at the work session. Today's request is regarding the long -term <br />strategy for staffing needs. He also announced Dianne Gridley, in attendance <br />has been named the Interim Program Administrator for Economic Services. <br />Chairman Poole requested clarification on the request. Mr. Rose <br />responded that the request is for four (4) permanent positions. <br />Pam Dubois, Deputy County Manager, advised there was a $170,000.00 <br />worth of equipment that was on the initial request for the temps and the four <br />workers. She stated that number was reduced to just under $90,000.00. <br />Board. <br />A discussion ensued with Mr. Rose responding to questions from the <br />Commissioner Morris MOVED to add four (4) permanent positions and adopt <br />the related budget amendment which includes funding for the work stations and <br />equipment. Commissioner Measmer seconded the motion. <br />Commissioner Oesterreich expressed his intent to vote against the <br />motion citing the funds to be used for the four permanent positions are not <br />recurring funds. <br />Mr. Rose commented there is a need for the four permanent positions to <br />assist in processing the volume and caseload the Department receives on a <br />regular basis. <br />The MOTION carried, with Chairman Poole and Commissioners Measmer and <br />Morris voting for and Vice Chairman 3urrage and Commissioner Oesterreich <br />voting against. <br />Date:10 /13/2014 Amount:$143,521 <br />Dept.
