May 20, 2013 (Regular Meeting) Page 1549 <br />(I -7) BOC - Receive Updates from Commission Members Who Serve as Liaisons to <br />Municipalities or on Various Board /Committees <br />None. <br />(I -8) Register of Deeds - 1 Quarter Records Report <br />The Board received the Register of Deeds l Quarter Records Report as <br />part of the Agenda. No action was required of the Board. <br />(J) GENERAL COMMENTS BY BOARD MEMBERS <br />Commissioner Measmer commended members of the Youth Council for their <br />participation on the Council and also thanked parents for their involvement. <br />He stated the Youth Council held their end -of -year banquet earlier that <br />night. He also encouraged citizens to visit the exhibit at the Historic <br />Cabarrus Museum to learn the history behind the Historic Courthouse. <br />Commissioner Morris provided an update of recent meetings and events he <br />attended throughout the county, including the following: Juvenile Crime <br />Prevention Council meeting, Special Olympics, Beacon Properties luncheon, <br />school safety forum at Concord High School, Congressional art contest, <br />Mechanical Trades Carolina (MTC) statewide competition, Law Day, United Way <br />appreciation breakfast, Small Business Resource Fair, Annual Arts Council <br />breakfast and the Library Board of Trustees meeting. <br />Chairman Poole recognized the Cabarrus County Building Industry <br />Association (CCBIA) for their success in local and statewide masonry <br />competitions. She extended sympathy to the victims and families recently <br />impacted by tornados in Oklahoma. She also expressed condolences for the <br />passing of Connie Hinnant, wife of Kannapolis City Councilman, Darrell <br />Hinnant. <br />(K) WATER AND SEWER DISTRICT OF CABARRUS COUNTY <br />None. <br />(L) CLOSED SESSION <br />(L -1) Closed Session - Personnel Matters) and To Consult with the County <br />Attorney <br />UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman White, seconded by Commissioner Burrage <br />and unanimously carried, the board moved to go into closed session to discuss <br />a personnel matter(s) and to consult with the county attorney in order to <br />preserve the attorney- client privilege as authorized by NCGS 143- 318.11(a)(3) <br />and (6). Tony Harris was invited into the closed session. <br />UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman White, seconded by Commissioner Burrage <br />and unanimously carried, the board moved to come out of closed session. <br />(M) RECESS <br />UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman White, seconded by Commissioner Burrage, <br />and unanimously carried, the meeting recessed at 8:19 p.m. to Tuesday, May <br />28, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. <br />lt�t &a�� <br />Megan Smit, Clerk to the Board <br />
