June 26, 2012 (Recessed Meeting) Page 1146 <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner White, seconded by Commissioner Carruth and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved a waiver to the Board Fund Balance <br />Policy for FY 2012. <br />Finance - Public Schools Salary Increase for FY 2013 <br />Chairman Poole advised the FY 2013 state budget includes a 1.2 percent <br />salary increase for state-funded - ,public school employees. The equivalent <br />salary increase for' locally paid teachers, administrative and support staff <br />is estimated to be $22,639.18 for Kannapolis City Schools and $260,245.00 for <br />Cabarrus County Schools. This expenditure was not included in the FY 12 -13 <br />budget. <br />During discussion, a number of concerns were raised related to the <br />Governor's approval of the pending budget, the likelihood of subsequent <br />changes or reversions to the state budget, etc. Several Board members <br />expressed a desire to have state- funded and locally- funded employees treated <br />the same and to consider the matter in July. <br />Mike Downs, County Manager, recommended the Board consider this matter <br />in July and use its contingency funds to cover the cost by adopting a budget <br />amendment. <br />No action was taken. <br />Adjourn <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner White, seconded by Commissioner Measmer and <br />unanimously carried, the meeting adjourned at 5:35 p.m. <br />4� <br />Kay on cut erk to the Board <br />
