Mr. Nixon was invited into the closed <br />session. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Measmer, seconded by Vice Chairman White <br />and unanimously carried, the board moved to come out of closed session. <br />Return to Open Session <br />Register of Deeds - To Discuss and to Consider Appointment of Melton Wayne <br />Nixon, Jr., the Nominee of the Republican Party Executive Committee, to the <br />Office of Register of Deeds and to Consider Mr. Nixon's Proposed Official <br />Bond for Approval - Continued <br />Vice Chairman White MOVED to approve the Public Official Bond in the <br />amount of $50,000 for the register of deeds effective February 1, 2013, <br />pursuant to North Carolina General Statute 161 -4. Commissioner Measmer <br />seconded the motion. <br />Commissioner Burrage stated in his opinion, if he votes for this bond, <br />he is going against the oath of office he took when beginning his term of <br />office. <br />The MOTION carried, with Chairman Poole, Vice Chairman White and <br />Commissioners Measmer and Morris voting for and Commissioner Burrage voting <br />against. <br />Chairman Poole announced Wayne Nixon, Jr., having been nominated by the <br />Cabarrus Republican Executive Committee and having produced an acceptable <br />bond, will begin employment as the Register of Deeds for Cabarrus County on <br />February 1, 2013 at a beginning pay salary of $70,272.34. <br />Mr. Nixon will be sworn in on February 1, 2013. <br />Adjourn <br />UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman White, seconded by Commissioner Measmer, <br />and unanimously carried, the meeting adjourned at 10:05 a.m. <br />Megan it, Clerk to the Board <br />
