NPSTW was started in 1981 to put a <br />special focus on public safety telecommunications professionals for their <br />contributions to the safety and security of communities around the world. <br />The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) <br />International convinced Congress of the need for a formal proclamation in <br />1991; it became permanent in 1994. <br />UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Poole, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following proclamation: <br />Proclamation No. 2010-02 <br />PROCLAMATION <br />PUBLIC SAFETY TELECOMMUNICATORS WEEK <br />WHEREAS, the services and functions performed by Cabarrus County's 911 <br />telecommunicators are critical to the safety and welfare of the citizens of <br />Cabarrus County, and <br />WHEREAS public safety telecommunicators provide 24 hour a day service <br />as the vital link in the chain of emergency services providers, and <br />WHEREAS these dedicated professional are the initial point of contact <br />for citizens in crisis situations who need emergency services assistance. In <br />answering the public's daily cries for help, they are often instrumental in <br />saving lives and reducing property damage when tragedy strikes; <br />NOW THEREFORE, the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners do hereby <br />proclaim April 11-17, 2010 as "Public Safety Telecommunicator's Week" in <br />Cabarrus County, and urge our citizens to acknowledge the contributions of <br />these loyal public servants. <br />Adopted this the 15th day of March, 2010. <br />/s/ H.
