Every effort is made to ensure <br />that compensation and pay checks are properly computed and calculated. It <br />is against County policy for any employee's wages to have improper or <br />unlawful deductions. If an employee believes his or her pay is incorrect <br />or that an improper or unlawful deduction was made to his or her wages or <br />salary, he or she needs to contact the County payroll office immediately. <br />The payroll office and/or human resources department will investigate the <br />matter, make corrections as appropriate, and make prompt reimbursement as <br />required. <br />1. Deductions from salaries of employees exempt under the Fair Labor <br />Standards Act, 29 CFR Part 541, are NOT permitted by the regulation for <br />the following reasons: <br />a. On an hourly basis except for unpaid FMLA leave and as provided in <br />the special rules above. <br />b. When the office, facility, building or department is officially <br />closed due to inclement weather such as snow or ice. Exempt salaried <br />workers may be required to use earned leave or debit the leave <br />balance, even if it results in a negative leave balance, for such <br />closings. <br />c. For penalties or rules violations such as performance issues, <br />attendance issues, minor safety rules, cash shortages, losses, rules <br />of evidence violations or damages to equipment or property, <br />including insurance deductibles when damage has occurred. <br />Other <br />1. Replace old language of "because of the individual's age, color, <br />disability, national origin, political affiliation, race, religion, or <br />sex" with new language of "because of the individual's age, color, <br />disability, genetic information, national origin, political affiliation, <br />race, religion, or sex" where necessary, including the following <br />locations: <br />Article I.4., p.3 <br />Article IV.l., p.ll <br />Article V.8., p.16-17 <br />Article VIII.3., p.32 <br />Article VIII.4., p.34 <br />Add the definition of "Genetic Information" in Article I, Section 3. <br />Definitions. <br />Genetic Information. Correct language from "annual leave" to "vacation leave" where necessary. <br />(F-7) Sheriff - Interlocal Agreement Between the Cities of Concord and <br />Kannapolis for the 911 Call Center Equipment <br />The Interlocal agreement has been drafted by the County Attorney and <br />reviewed by county/city staffs to outline the conditions for the lease, use, <br />and maintenance of new 911 Call Center equipment to be located in the <br />established call centers located with the cities of Concord and Kannapolis. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Mynatt <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved the Interlocal Agreement between <br />the cities of Concord and Kannapolis for the 911 Call Center Equipment. <br />(F-8) Sheriff's Office - Award Service Weapon to Retiring Deputy Bobby R. <br />Bonds <br />Deputy Bobby R. Bonds will retire from the Cabarrus County Sheriff's <br />Office on March 31, 2010. It is requested that Deputy Bonds' service weapon <br />a Sig Sauer, 40 Caliber, Model P226, Serial No. 0684308 be declared surplus <br />and awarded to him for the price of $1.00 upon his retirement from the <br />Sheriff's Office, pursuant to N.C.G.S.20-187.2. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Mynatt <br />and unanimously carried, the Board declared surplus property a Sig Sauer, 40 <br />Caliber, Model P226, Serial No. 0684308 and awarded to Deputy Bonds for the <br />price of $1.00 upon his retirement. <br />
