I, Christopher A. Measmer, do solemnly and sincerely swear that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to the State of North Carolina, and to the constitutional powers and authorities which are or may be established for the government thereof; and that I will endeavor to support, maintain, and defend the Constitution of said State, not inconsistent with the Constitution of the United States, to the best of my knowledge and ability; so help me, God. Closing Comments by Chairman White Chairman White thanked the audience for attending the reception and swearing -in ceremony. He invited the audience to attend the organizational meeting and agenda work session in the Commissioners' Meeting Room. Organizational Meeting - Call to Order Chairman White called the organizational meeting to order at 6:07 p.m. Presentation of Colors The Honor Guard from the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Department presented the colors. Deputies participating in the ceremony were: Deputy Michael Shanahan, Deputy Jason Long, Deputy Michael Freeze, Deputy Jason Yount and Deputy Michael Elliot. T-,,---+-4 -r. Reverend Glenn L. Myers, Pastor from Epworth Methodist Church in Concord, delivered the invocation. Board Organization Chairman White turned the meeting over to John Day, County Manager, who presided over the organization of the Board. Election of Chairman John Day, County Manager, called for nominations for the position of Chairman. Commissioner Poole nominated Commissioner White. UPON MOTION of Commissioner Poole, seconded by Commissioner Burrage and unanimously carried, the Board voted to close nominations and elected Commissioner White as Chairman of the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners by acclamation. Election of Vice Chairman The County Manager turned the meeting over to Chairman White who called for nominations for the position of Vice Chairman. Commissioner Carruth nominated Commissioner Poole. Commissioner Measmer expressed an interest in being considered for a leadership position in the future.
