January 20, 2009 (Regular Meeting) <br />Page 1127 <br />Chase Kerley, Shea Homes Representative, responded to questions from <br />the Board and further discussion ensued. The following issues were <br />addressed: the economy's effect, if any, on the proposed build-out schedule <br />for the Edison Square Condominium Project; the need accelerate funding for <br />elementary schools; school capacity; etc. <br />The MOTION carried with Chairman White, Vice Chairman Mynatt and <br />Commissioners Carruth and Poole voting for and Commissioner Privette voting <br />against. <br />(F) CONSENT AGENDA <br />- Approval of <br />:iea and Parka <br />for <br />The Department of Aging Advisory Board has discussed naming the picnic <br />shelter, walking trail and park located behind the Senior Center on Highway <br />73. To facilitate the naming process, a naming policy/procedure document was <br />prepared based on the one the Board of Commissioners approved for the Parks <br />Department a few years ago. The process includes a public hearing (to be <br />conducted by the Department of Aging Advisory Board) and is tentatively <br />scheduled for Monday, February 16, 2009 at 11 a.m. After the public hearing, <br />the Advisory Board will submit its recommendations to the Board of <br />Commissioners for final approval. The draft policy was approved by the <br />Advisory Board at its December meeting. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Vice Chairman Mynatt <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved the Cabarrus County Department of <br />Aging Policies and Procedures for Naming Facilities and Parks. <br />(F-2) Commerce Department - Project Ordinance for HOME Program Ehnda <br />Cabarrus County has participated in the Cabarrus/Iredell/Rowan HOME <br />Consortium for over a decade. The HOME program provides federal funds to <br />rehabilitate housing for low income elderly and disabled persons. The project authorized is the Community Development project <br />described in the work statement contained in the grant agreement between this <br />unit and the City of Concord. The project is more familiarly known as the <br />2008-2009 Cabarrus/Iredell/Rowan HOME Program. <br />
