January 20, 2009 (Regular Meeting) Page 1132 <br />(F-6) ITS - Approval of Lease Agreement Renewal with DDI Leasinc, Inc. for <br />the Compellent 9AN ($torage Area Network) Solution - $192.681.00 <br />The current SAN lease expires February 2009 and funding for this <br />expense is budgeted. <br />The 2006 implementation of a SAN in Cabarrus County allowed us to: <br />• Cost effectively increase storage as needed by adding to a centralized <br />storage pool, not individual servers. <br />• Consolidated server hardware with implementation of virtual servers. <br />• Reduced admin time spent on storage administration. <br />• Eliminate system downtime required for data backups. <br />• Increase speed-and reliability of disaster recovery. <br />• Improve the administration of test and development environments. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Vice Chairman Mynatt <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved the Lease Agreement between <br />Cabarrus County and DDI Leasing, Inc. for the Compellent SAN Solution and <br />authorized the County Manager to execute the Agreement on behalf of Cabarrus <br />County, subject to review or revisions by the County Attorney. <br />(F-7) Proclamation - Dr. Martin Luther Kino, Jr. <br />At the December meeting, Pastor Jordan asked to have a proclamation <br />adopted in observation of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr's birthday. The Board <br />adopted such a proclamation on January 10, 2005. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Vice Chairman Mynatt <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following proclamation: <br />Proclamation No. 2009-01 <br />PROCLAMATION <br />WHEREAS, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., was born on January 15, 1929 in <br />Atlanta, Georgia, and devoted his life to fighting poverty, injustice and <br />racism in America; and <br />WHEREAS, Dr. King, through his practice of non-violent protest, <br />promoted the importance of love, peace and freedom for humankind and <br />challenged America to honor its promise of liberty and justice for all <br />citizens; and <br />WHEREAS, during his lifetime, Dr. King sought to forge the common <br />ground on which individuals of all ages, races and backgrounds could join <br />together to address important community issues and provide service to their <br />community; and <br />WHEREAS, the third Monday in January has been established as a national <br />holiday to observe the anniversary of Dr. King's birth. <br />NOW THEREFORE, the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners hereby <br />proclaims Monday, January 19, 2009 as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in <br />Cabarrus County and encourages all citizens to join in the special programs <br />and ceremonies to be held on January 17-19 honoring the life and work of Dr. <br />King and his legacy of peace and equality for all citizens. <br />Adopted this the 20°hday of January, 2009. <br />/s/ H.
