March 9, 2009 (Special Meeting) Page 1276 <br />Chairman White commented that deputies need to easily understand and <br />apply the ordinance to situations. <br />Fuel Recoverv Fee - BFI Waste Services / Allied Waste Services <br />In response to a citizen inquiry at the Board's February regular <br />meeting related to the continuation of the 7.5 percent fuel recovery fee for <br />subscription waste pickup, John Day, County Manager, reported the following: <br />the contract provides for a flat 7.5 percent fee in addition to whatever fees <br />are charged by BFI/Allied Waste; fees are subject to annual review; a <br />question has arisen regarding the anniversary date o£ the contract; the issue <br />is being addressed and additional information will be presented to the Board <br />at a later date. <br />Future Meetings <br />Chairman White reminded the Board of an upcoming Budget Preview Meeting <br />scheduled for April 23, 2009 at 3:30 p.m. to be held in the Multipurpose Room <br />of the Governmental Center. He also stated a UNCC Regional Forum regarding <br />the Citistates Report in the Charlotte Observer will be held at the Cabarrus <br />Arena and Events Center on April 23, 2009. He stated the Citistates Report <br />addresses very important issues related to the environment and it would be <br />very beneficial for the Board to attend the meeting.
