May 5, 2009 (Recessed Meeting) <br />Page 1362 <br />The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus attended the <br />Cabarrus Economic Development Corporation's (EDC) Stakeholder Luncheon held <br />at the Great Wolf Lodge in Concord, North Carolina on Tuesday, May 5, 2009, <br />at noon. <br />Present - Chairman: H. Jay White, Sr. <br />Vice Chairman: Grace M. Mynatt <br />Commissioners: Robert W. Carruth <br />Absent - Commissioners: Elizabeth F. Poole <br />Coy C. Privette <br />Also present were John Day, County Manager; Mike Downs, Deputy County <br />Manager; Kay Honeycutt, Clerk to the Board; Jonathan Marshall, Commerce <br />Director; Susie Morris, Planning & Zoning Manager and Kelly Sifford, <br />Community Development Manager. Several members from the Tax Department were <br />also present. <br />Although a quorum of the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners was <br />present, no action was taken by the Board. <br />Cabarrus Economic Development Corporation's Stakeholder Luncheon <br />Toby Prewitt, 2008 EDC Chair, opened the luncheon with introductory <br />remarks. <br />While lunch was served, Lynne Safrit, incoming Chair of the EDC Board <br />of Directors, presented Toby Prewitt with two plaques: one was for his many <br />years of service to the EDC and the second was for serving as "Chair <br />Emeritus". <br />Next, John Cox, President and CEO of Cabarrus Economic Development and <br />Cabarrus Regional Chamber of Commerce, addressed a large audience concerning <br />the EDC's accomplishments of 2008, economic challenges the County faces, etc. <br />Adjourn <br />The luncheon ended at 1:07 p.m. <br />Cler to the o d <br />
