<br />(F-6) Ratification of the Tourism Authoritv's New Bylaws
<br />At its July 22, 2008 meeting, the Tourism Authority adopted new bylaws.
<br />Article 9, Section 9.3, (Composition; Appointment; Term) changed the term
<br />expiration for the members of the Tourism Authority from December 31 to June
<br />30. Article 9, Section 9.3 reads as follows:
<br />Section 9.3 Composition; Appointment; Term. Pursuant to the
<br />provisions of the Enabling Legislation the Authority Board shall
<br />consist of nine (9) members appointed by the Commissioners of
<br />Cabarrus County for three year terms as follows:
<br />(1) Seats 1, 9, and 7 shall be appointed by the Cabarrus County
<br />Board of Commissioners at large and shall include, but not be
<br />limited to, at least one member of that board or the Cabarrus
<br />County Manager;
<br />(2) Seats 2, 5, and -8 shall be appointed by the Cabarrus County
<br />Board of Commissioners from a list of at least three persons
<br />submitted by the Cabarrus County Tourism Authority; and
<br />(3) Seats 3, 6, and 9 shall be appointed by the Cabarrus County
<br />Board of Commissioners from a list of at least three persons
<br />submitted to that board by the Cabarrus Regional Chamber of
<br />Commerce.
<br />Pursuant to the Enabling Legislation, the term of office of each
<br />member of the Authority shall be three years, and the terms shall be
<br />staggered, as follows:
<br />(1) The terms of Seats 1, 2, and 3 expired on June 30, 2008 and the
<br />next term for those seats shall be from July 1, 2008 through
<br />June 30, 2011, and for three year terms thereafter beginning on
<br />a July 1 and ending on a June 30.
<br />(2) The terms of Seats 9, 5, and 6 shall expire on June 30, 2009,
<br />and the next term for those seats shall be from July 1, 2009
<br />through June 30, 2012, and for three year terms thereafter
<br />beginning on a July 1 and ending on a June 30.
<br />Each member of the Authority Board shall hold office until his or
<br />her death, resignation, retirement, removal or disqualification, or
<br />until the election or appointment and qualification of his or her
<br />successor.
<br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner Carruth
<br />and unanimously carried, the Board ratified the change in term expiration for
<br />members of the Tourism Authority as set forth in Article 9, Section 4. 3,
<br />(Composition; Appointment; Term.) of the Authority's bylaws as adopted by the
<br />Authority on July 22, 2008.

<br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner
<br />Carruth and unanimously carried, the Board approved the July 2008 Release-
<br />Refund report as submitted and granted authority to the Tax Collector to
<br />process the refunds and releases.
