Appointments: • Region F Aging Advisory Board • Harrisburg Fire Advisory Board • Cabarrus County Planning and Zoning Commission • Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee • Transportation Advisory Committee There were no objections to placing the aforementioned items on the Agenda. Comments by the Chairman Chairman Carruth made the following announcements: (1) There is a vacancy on the Piedmont Area Mental Health, Mental Retardation andSubstance Abuse Authority. He encouraged interested citizens to complete an application. (2) A meeting is scheduled with Mark Austin with Philip Morris on Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at 10 a.m. (3) A reception will be held on Wednesday at 5 p.m. in Kannapolis to celebrate the arrival of NC State, University of North Carolina and other universities to the N.C. Research Campus. (9) There could be a special meeting called by the Governor of North Carolina to address roads and transportation issues that were not dealt with before the House and Senate ended their session. He asked to be permitted to draft a resolution calling for a special session to be held and calling for widespread reform in .the Department of Transportation (DOT) to provide for better use of highway funds within the state.
