December 17, 2007 (Regular Meeting) <br />Page 661 <br />Vice Chairman Juba AMENDED her MOTION and asked Commissioner Privette <br />to find a Cabarrus County resident to fill the "Education" position on the <br />Centralina Workforce Development Board by the next meeting. Commissioner <br />Mynatt seconded the AMENDMENT. <br />The MOTION as AMENDED unanimously carried. <br />Commissioner Carruth stated he would like to discuss the residency <br />issue at the January 7, 2008 Agenda Work Session. He also commented on Ms. <br />Conger's qualifications and asked should the Board jettison someone solely <br />because they are not a Cabarrus County resident. <br />(I-B) Department of Aging Advisory Board <br />UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Juba, seconded by Commissioner Mynatt and <br />unanimously carried, the Board appointed Jean Chandler and Anita Helms to the <br />Department of Aging Advisory Board for three-year terms ending December 31, <br />2010 and reappointed Vernie King, Mae Block and Kay Scott to serve three-year <br />terms ending December 31, 2010. <br />(I-4) NC 3 Advisory Committee <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner Carruth <br />and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Chairman White to the NC 3 <br />Advisory Committee. <br />ttee <br />Chairman White stated a representative and alternateare needed for the <br />Transportation Advisory Committee and Transportation Coordinating Committee. <br />In response to questions from the Board, Jonathan Marshall, Commerce <br />Director explained the difference between the TAC and the TCC. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner Carruth <br />and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Commissioner Carruth and <br />Commissioner Mynatt (alternate) to the Transportation Advisory Committee and <br />appointed Jonathan Marshall and Mike Byrd (alternate) to the Transportation <br />Coordination Committee. <br />(J) REPORTS <br />None. <br />(K) GENERAL COMMENTS BY BOARD MEMBERS <br />Commissioner Carruth commented on an educational seminar on road <br />improvements in Raleigh that he and several County staff attended. <br />Commissioner Privette commentedon a recent article published in THE <br />BUSINESS JOURNAL related to highway construction and funding formulas. <br />Chairman White wished everyone a Merry Christmas and a safe holiday <br />season. <br />(L) WATER AND SEWER DISTRICT OF CABARRUS COUNTY <br />None. <br />(M) CLOSED SESSION <br />None. <br />(N) RECESS OF MEETING <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Mynatt, seconded by Commissioner Carruth <br />and unanimously carried, the Board recessed the meeting at 8:04 p.m. until <br />3:30 p.m. on Monday, January 7, 2008, at the Cabarrus County Governmental <br />Center. <br />Clerk to e Boar <br />
