<br />June 5, 2006 - Agenda Work Session/Recessed Meeting <br /> <br />Page <br /> <br />631 <br /> <br />After further discussion, it was generally agreed that Chairman Carruth <br />and Commissioner Freeman would discuss the annexation issue with Kannapolis <br />officials. <br /> <br />Recess of Meeting <br /> <br />At 5:50 p.m., the Board took a short break. <br />reconvened the meeting at 6:01 p.m. <br /> <br />Chairman Carruth <br /> <br />Consent Agreements for the Landon Townhomes, Oxford Commons Townhomes, and <br />the Bluffs at Mill Bridge Subdivisions <br /> <br />Kassie G. Watts, Planner, presented a summary of the Consent Agreements <br />for the following subdivisions: Landon Townhomes (Harrisburg Planning and <br />zoning Board), Oxford Commons Townhomes (Concord Planning and zoning Board), <br />and the Bluffs at Mill Bridge (Cabarrus County Planning and Zoning Board) . <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner <br />Carpenter and unanimously carried, the Board voted to place the Consent <br />Agreements for the following subdivisions on June 19, 2006 Agenda as New <br />Business items: Landon Townhomes, Oxford Commons Townhomes, and the Bluffs <br />at Mill Bridge. <br /> <br />North Carolina Department of Transportation Maintenance/Right-of-Way <br />Abandonment for a Portion of Macedonia Church Road (SR 1620) <br /> <br />Jonathan Marshall, Commerce Director, reported property owners had <br />petitioned the N. C. Department of Transportation (NCDOT) to abandon the <br />maintenance of a portion (O.lO-mile) of Macedonia Church Road from its <br />intersection with Macedonia Church Road Extension to the end of current <br />maintenance. He stated the Board is requested to adopt a resolution <br />supporting this abandonment of maintenance. After approval by the Board of <br />Transportation, the County will need to hold a public hearing on the <br />abandonment of the right-of-way. <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner <br />Carpenter and unanimously carried, the Board voted to place a resolution of <br />support for the abandonment of maintenance on a portion of Macedonia Church <br />Road (SR 1620) by the North Carolina Department of Transportation on the June <br />19, 2006 Agenda as a Consent item. <br /> <br />Fa~land Preservation, Advisory Board Procedures - Amendment to Section 32-28 <br />of the Cabarrus County Code of Ordinances <br /> <br />Jonathan Marshall, Commerce Director, presented a request to amend <br />Section 32-28, Farmland Preservation, of the Cabarrus County Code of <br />Ordinances. The proposed amendment would change the advisory board calendar <br />from a "fiscalll year to a "calendarll year. <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carpenter, seconded by Commissioner <br />Privette and unanimously carried, the Board scheduled a public hearing on the <br />proposed amendment to Section 32-28, Farmland Preservation, Advisory Board <br />Procedures of the Cabarrus County Code of Ordinances on June 19, 2006 at 6:30 <br />p.m. <br /> <br />Amendment to the General Conditions of the Contract between Cabarrus County <br />and Turner Construction Company <br /> <br />Kelly Sifford, Community Development Manager, presented an amendment to <br />the General Conditions of the contract between Cabarrus County and Turner <br />Construction Company. She stated the changes were very minor in nature. <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner <br />and unanimously carried, the Board voted to place the Amendment <br />General Conditions of the contract between Cabarrus County and <br />Construction Company on the June 19, 2006 Agenda as a Consent item. <br /> <br />Freeman <br />to the <br />Turner <br /> <br />Commissioner Privette made a motion to amend the contract with Turner <br />Construction for the County to be given assurances that none of the company's <br />subcontractors will employ illegal aliens; and further that the <br />subcontractors will be subj ect to a $50,000.00 fine for each illegal alien <br />that is employed.
