<br />(F-9) Department of Aging - Budget Amendment (Receipt Grant Funda from
<br />Living Well in North Carolina - $25,000)
<br />The Department of Aging has received a new grant from the NC Council of
<br />Developmental Disabilities (DHHS). This budget amendment establishes a new
<br />revenue account and expense account that will allow the Department of Aging
<br />to utilize these funds to expand existing programs/services and establish new
<br />programs/services for adults with developmental disabilities. In-kind
<br />matching grant requirements will be provided through current budget
<br />allocations. No additional County funds are required to accept this grant
<br />funding. Total budgetary increase is $25,000.00.
<br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carpenter, seconded by Commissioner
<br />Privette and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following budget
<br />amendment:

<br />PURPOSE OF REQUEST: This Budget Amendment establishes new revenue and expense
<br />accounts for the Living Well in NC grant within the Department of Aging
<br />budget for FY 2007. This grant provides funding to enhance opportunities for
<br />adults with disabilities to participate in programs, classes and/or events
<br />that are provided through the Cabarrus County Senior Center.

<br />(F-10) Intended Piggyback of Mecklenburg County, NC bid awarded for a Tandem
<br />Drive Axel Truck (Roll-Off Truck) to Volvo and GMC Truck Center of Carolina,
<br />Charlotte, NC
<br />The purchase of the roll-off truck is included in the Solid Waste
<br />Management Department budget. The piggyback of a Mecklenburg County purchase
<br />of a tandem drive axle truck (Roll-Off Truck) from Volvo and GMC Truck Center
<br />of Carolina, Charlotte, NC in July 2006, pursuant to North Carolina G.S. 143-
<br />129, is recommended. Total cost is $123,364.18 including trade-in allowance
<br />of $5,000.00. The Notice, "Awarding a Contract to Volvo and GMC Truck Center
<br />for Landfill Roll Off Truck by Piggybacking a Bid Awarded Previously by
<br />Mecklenburg County, North Carolina", was posted on the County's website on
<br />November 2, 2006.
<br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carpenter, seconded by Commissioner
<br />Privette and unanimously carried, the Board authorized the purchase of one
<br />(1) Tandem Drive Axle Truck (roll-off truck) from Volvo and GMC Truck Center
<br />of Carolina utilizing the Mecklenburg County piggyback in accordance with
<br />NCGS 143-129 and declared the old roll off truck as surplus.

<br />The Hartsell Youth League was awarded an incentive grant to assist in
<br />the purchase and installation of an athletic field lighting system at the
<br />Rocky River Elementary School ball fields. The cost is $119,000 - (which
<br />includes a Matching Incentive Grant of $59,500). A. piggyback of the Cabarrus
<br />County purchase from S&S Electrical Construction Co., Inc., on August 21,
<br />2006, is recommended, pursuant to North Carolina G.S. 143-129. The Notice,
<br />"Awarding a Contract to S & S Electrical Construction Co., Inc., for
<br />Atheletic Field Lighting at Rocky River Phase III by Piggybacking a Bid
<br />Awarded Previously by Cabarrus County, North Carolina", was posted on the
<br />County's website on November 2, 2006.
