<br />April 18, 2005 (Regular Meeting) <br /> <br />Page 137 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the members of emergency medical services teams <br />provide lifesaving care to those in need 24 hours <br />days a week; and <br /> <br />are ready to <br />a day, seven <br /> <br />access to quality emergency care dramatically improves the <br />survival and recovery rate of those who experience sudden illness <br />or injury; and <br /> <br />emergency medical services teams consist of emergency physicians, <br />emergency nurses, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, <br />firefighters, educators, administrators, and others; and <br />approximately two-thirds of all emergency medical services <br />providers are volunteers; and <br /> <br />the members of <br />or volunteer, <br />training and <br />skills; and <br /> <br />medical services teams I whether career <br />thousands of hours of specialized <br />education enhance their lifesaving <br /> <br />emergency <br />engage in <br />continuing <br /> <br />Americans benefit daily from the knowledge and skills of these <br />highly trained individuals; and <br /> <br />it is appropriate to recognize the value and the accomplishments <br />of emergency medical services providers by designating Emergency <br />Medical Services Week; and <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that we, the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners, in recognition of this event do hereby proclaim the week of <br />May 15 - 21, 2005, as <br /> <br />CABARRUS COUNTY EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WEEK <br /> <br />This 18th day April, 2005. <br /> <br />/s/ Carolyn B. Bonds, Clerk to the Board <br /> <br />Mr. Hampton expressed appreciation for the proclamation recognizing the <br />dedication and commitment of EMS personnel. He stated Cabarrus County is a <br />model EMS system, having set the standard for cardiac care and now setting <br />the standard for stroke care. <br /> <br />(C-3) Proclamation - Soil and Water Conservation Week (April 24 - May 1, <br />2005) <br /> <br />On behalf of the Board, Commissioner Privette presented the following <br />Proclamation declaring April 24 - May 1, 2005 as "Soil & Water Stewardship <br />Week" to Jeff Goforth, Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor. <br /> <br />SOIL & WATER STEWARDSHIP WEEK <br /> <br />WHEREAS, fertile soil and clean water provide us with our daily <br />sustenance; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, effective conservation practices have helped provide us a rich <br />standard of living; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, our security depends upon healthy soil and clean water; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, soil and water stewardship calls for each person to help <br />conserve these precious resources. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners does hereby <br />proclaim April 24 - May 1, 2005 as <br /> <br />SOIL & WATER STEWARDSHIP WEEK <br /> <br />in Cabarrus County and commend this observance to our citizens. <br /> <br />This the 18th day of April 2005. <br />/s/ Carolyn B.
