<br />November 21, 2005 (Regular Meeting) <br /> <br />Page <br /> <br />421 <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Freeman, seconded <br />and unanimously carried, the Board reconvened the <br />Board of Commissioners at 9:37 p.m. <br /> <br />by Commissioner Privette <br />regular meeting of the <br /> <br />County Attorney Selection Committee <br /> <br />Chairman Carpenter reported that the County Attorney Selection <br />committee met earlier this date and reviewed the nine applications that were <br />received for the position of County Attorney. The committee had narrowed the <br />field to six applicants and suggested that the Board meet on Saturday I <br />December 10, for interviews. <br /> <br />After discussion, the Board agreed to meet on Saturday, January 21, to <br />interview County Attorney applicants. Board members were asked to submit <br />questions to the County Manager by December 1 to be forwarded to each <br />candidate for written responses prior to the interview date. <br /> <br />Recognition of Rodger Lentz <br /> <br />vice Chairman Carruth thanked Rodger Lentz, Planning and Zoning <br />Manager I for the excellent service provided to Cabarrus County. Mr. Lentz <br />will be leaving County employment for a position with Charlotte-Mecklenburg <br />Planning Department. <br /> <br />(L) CLOSED SESSION <br /> <br />(L-1) Closed Session to Consult with the County Attorney to Preserve the <br />Attorney Client Privilege, to Discuss Pending or Threatened Litigation and to <br />Discuss the Acquisition of Real Property off Highway 24/27 as Authorized by <br />N.C. General Statues 143-318.1l(a) (3) (5) <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Freeman <br />and unanimously carried, the Board moved to go into Closed Session to Consult <br />with the County Attorney to preserve the attorney client privilege, to <br />discuss pending or threatened litigation and to discuss the acquisition of <br />real property off Highway 24/27 as authorized by N. C. General Statute 143- <br />318.11(a) (3) (5). Further, the Board invited Mike Downs, Deputy County <br />Manager, to join the Board in Closed Session. <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Freeman <br />and unanimously carried, the Board moved to come out of the Closed Session. <br /> <br />Property Acquisition <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of vice Chairman Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved the contract for the purchase of <br />a one-acre tract plus 30 foot right-of-way located on Highway 24/27 in <br />Midland from Donald E. Misenheimer for a communications tower site at a cost <br />of $50,000.00; and authorized the County Manager and County Attorney to <br />execute the contact. <br /> <br />(M) ADJOURN <br /> <br />with there being no further business to come before the Board, Chairman <br />Carpenter adjourned the meeting at 10:45 p.m. <br /> <br />~~~.~ <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br />
