March 8, 2004 P~ge 384 <br /> <br /> The Board held a public hearing on the proposed Zoning Text Amendment <br />at its meeting on January 26 and requested additional information on uses in <br />the Agricultural and Open Space (AO) zoning district. Staff provided that <br />information on February 16, at which time the Board asked that the proposed <br />text amendment be placed on the April Agenda with a work session to be held <br />prior to that time. <br /> <br /> Rodger Lentz, Planning Manager, reviewed the differences between uses <br />permitted by right, uses permitted by standards and conditional uses. He <br />also reviewed the uses currently permitted in the AO District. <br /> <br /> After discussion, there was general consensus to ask the Planning and <br />Zoning Commission to review the list of uses in the AO zoning district and <br />make recommendations regarding any changes that are needed. The proposed <br />Zoning Text Amendment [Petition C2003-03(T)] will be placed on the April <br />agenda as previously directed by the Board. <br /> <br />Closed Session <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner Carruth <br />and unanimously carried, the Board moved to go into Closed Session to discuss <br />personnel matter(s) as authorized by North Carolina General Statute 143- <br />318.11(a) (6) and to consult with the County Attorney regarding threatened or <br />pending litigation as authorized by North Carolina General Statute 143- <br />318.11 (a) (3). <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Chairman Freeman and <br />unanimously carried, the Board voted to come out of Closed Session. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Vice Chairman Suggs <br />with Commissioners Privette and Carruth, Vice Chairman Suggs and Chairman <br />Freeman voting for and Commissioner Carpenter voting against, the Board <br />authorized the Tax Administrator to hire Chris Ferriss as Revaluation <br />Supervisor at above job rate for that position. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Carpenter stated for the record her concerns with making <br />exceptions to the County's policy. She said job classifications and salary <br />ranges are reviewed every two years and adjustments should be made at that <br />time. <br /> <br />Closed Session <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Suggs, seconded by Commissioner Privette and <br />unanimously carried, the Board moved to go into Closed Session to consult <br />with the County Attorney regarding pending or threatened litigation as <br />authorized by North Carolina General Statute 143-318.11(a) (3). <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Carpenter <br />and unanimously carried, the Board moved to come out of the Closed Session. <br /> <br />No report was filed on the Closed Session. <br /> <br />Adjournment <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carpenter, seconded by Commissioner <br />Privette and unanimously carried, the meeting was adjourned at 10:58 p.m. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
