April 19, 2004 Page 413 <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner Carruth <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following proclamation <br />declaring April 25 - May 2, 2004 as Soil & Water Stewardship Week. <br /> <br /> PROCLAMATION <br />SOIL & WATER STEWARDSHIP WEEK <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, we all depend on the fruits of healthy soil for our daily <br />survival; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, living organisms in soil thrive under the nurturing hand of <br />humankind; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, lessons from the past clearly show the need for conservation <br />of the land; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, stewardship of the soil calls for everyone who touches the <br />soil with respect to do their individual part. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners does hereby <br />proclaim April 25 - May 2, 2004, as <br /> <br />SOIL & WATER STEWARDSHIP WEEK <br /> <br />This the 19th day of April, 2004. <br /> <br />/s/ Robert S. Freeman, Chairman <br />Board of Commissioners <br /> <br />(F-2) Proclamation - Cabarrus County Day of Prayer <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner Carruth <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following proclamation <br />declaring May 6, 2004 as Cabarrus County Day of Prayer. <br /> <br /> PROCLAMATION <br />CABA/~RUS COUNTY DAY OF PRAYER <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, National Days of Prayer have been part of our country's <br />heritage since the first one was declared by the Continental Congress in <br />1775; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, legislation setting aside the first Thursday in May in each <br />year as a National Day of Prayer was passed unanimously by both Houses of <br />Congress in 1988; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the observance encourages Americans to affirm the nation's <br />spiritual roots and to enlist prayer for local, state and national leaders; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a day of prayer allows us the opportunity to acknowledge the <br />numerous challenges that we, as a society and a nation, face here at home, <br />and throughout the world; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a day of prayer is a time to give thanks for our families and <br />for the men and women of our military who are fighting to defend our Nation; <br />to give thanks for those who have joined with America in the fight against <br />terrorism; to continue to remember those who are suffering and facing <br />hardships; and to pray for peace throughout the world. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners proclaims <br />May 6, 2004, as "DAY OF PRAYER" in Cabarrus County and urges all citizens to <br />loin us in praying for our nation, our state, our county and ourselves. <br /> <br />Adopted this the 19tn day of April, 2004. <br /> <br />/s/ Robert M.
