February 17, 2003 Page 59 <br /> <br />(G) APPOIN~4ENTS TO BOARDS AND COMMITTEES <br /> <br />(G-l) Firemen's Relief Fund Trustees <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Vice Chairman Suggs <br />and unanimously carried, the Board appointed the following persons as <br />Firemen's Relief Fund Trustees as recommended by their respective fire <br />departments for terms of two years ending January 31, 2005: Allen - Monty <br />Greene; Cold Water - Ned Blackwelder; Flowes Store - Jim Aldridge; <br />Georgeville - Carl Junker; Harrisburg - Brian Dunn; Jackson Park - Ben <br />Mabrey, Sr.; Midland - Freddie J. Kiker; Mt. Mitchell - Lee P. Cline; Mt. <br />Pleasant - Frankie Barringer; Northeast Cabarrus - Eddie Moose; Odell - Jack <br />W. Irvin; and Rimer - Roy Gray. <br /> <br />(G-2) Planning and Zoning Con, mission (Alternate) <br /> <br /> Commissioner Privette nominated Fred L. Brown for appointment to the <br />Alternate position on the Cabarrus County Planning and Zoning Commission. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Carpenter suggested the appointment of a resident from the <br />Kannapolis area and nominated Lori B. Ruff. <br /> <br /> The Board also discussed the application for Jon R. Finger, Jr., who <br />had expressed an interest in appointment at the January 27tn meeting. It was <br />noted that Mr. Finger is a resident of Rowan County in Kannapolis. The <br />County's Appointment Policy restricts appointments of voting members to <br />boards and committees to County residents. <br /> <br /> Mr. Finger asked for consideration of his application. He said he owns <br />property and pays property taxes in Cabarrus County, does a majority of his <br />business in Cabarrus County and has a great interest in Cabarrus County. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by vice Chairman Suggs <br />and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Fred L. Brown as an Alternate <br />member on the Planning and zoning Commission to complete an unexpired term <br />ending January 31, 2004. <br /> <br />(G-3) Adult Care Home Co~ununit¥ Advisor~ Committee <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Vice Chairman Suggs <br />and unanimously carried, the Board reappointed Joyce Kluttz to the Adult Care <br />Home Community Advisory Committee for a term of three years ending February <br />28, 2006. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner <br />Carpenter and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Sheryl L. Findlan to <br />the Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee for an initial term of one <br />year ending February 28, 2004. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br />and unanimously carried, the Board removed Sadie Curry and Terri Clark from <br />the Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee due to lack of <br />participation. <br /> <br /> The Board also acknowledged the resignation of Betty Moss from the <br />Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee. <br /> <br />(~-4) Criminal Justice Partnership Pro,ram Advisor~ Board <br /> <br /> Commissioner Carpenter presented the request by the Criminal Justice <br />Partnership Program (CJPP) Advisory Board for the appointment of Teresa <br />Rettinger to fill the position created by the resignation of Charlotte Kiefer <br />and the appointment of Greg Faggart to fill the position currently held by <br />Stephanie Sloop. <br /> <br /> Chairman Freeman nominated Nicola Davis Bivens for appointment to the <br />CJPP advisory board. <br /> <br /> Mr. Day pointed out that Ms. Bivens had indicated on her application <br />that she would be available for meetings after 4:00 p.m. He stated that the <br />meetings are typically held at 12:30 p.m. to accommodate the judges, district <br />attorneys and other members of the court system who are required to be <br />members of the CJPP Advisory Board. <br /> <br /> <br />
