Bonds, Clerk to the Board <br /> <br />(E-16) Proclamation - Child Support Awareness Month (April 2003) <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Vice Chairman Suggs <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following Proclamation. <br /> <br />CHILD SUPPORT AW~LRENESS MONTH <br />IN CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> A PROCLAMATION <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the welfare of <br />responsibility we have as parents. <br />support from both parents; and <br /> <br />our children is the most important <br /> A child should be able to depend on <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, children who do not receive adequate financial and emotional <br />support from both parents may experience greater difficulty in becoming <br />healthy, happy, and productive citizens of this County. In such cases, the <br />taxpayers of this County support the children whose parents fail to meet this <br />responsibility; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, many concerned and dedicated judges, district attorneys, <br />clerks of court, sheriffs' personnel, and child support professionals work to <br />provide this service to Cabarrus County's children . our future; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners does hereby proclaim the month of April, 2001 as <br /> CHILD SUPPORT AWARENESS MONTH IN CABARRUS COUNTY <br />and urges all parents who are currently under court order to regularly pay <br />their child support. <br /> <br />This the 21st day of April 2003 <br /> <br />/s/ Robert M. Freeman <br />Chairman, Cabarrus County <br />Board of Commissioners <br /> <br />(E-17) Proclamation - Cabarrus County Day of Prayer (May 1, 2003) <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Vice Chairman Suggs <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following Proclamation. <br /> <br />CABARRUS COUNTY <br />DAY OF PRAYER <br />PROCLAMATION <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, National Days of Prayer have been part of our country's <br />heritage since the first one was declared by the Continental Congress in <br />1775; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, legislation setting aside the first Thursday in May in each <br />year as a National Day of Prayer was passed unanimously by both Houses of <br />Congress in 1988; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the observance encourages Americans to affirm the nation's <br />spiritual roots and to enlist prayer for local, state and national leaders; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a day of prayer allows us the opportunity to acknowledge the <br />numerous challenges that we, as a society and a nation, face here at home, <br />and throughout the world; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a day of prayer is a time to give thanks for our families and <br />for the men and women of our military who are fighting to defend our Nation; <br />to give thanks for those wMo have joined with America in the fight against <br />terrorism; to continue to remember those who are suffering and facing <br />hardships; and to pray for peace throughout the world. <br /> <br /> <br />
