Bonds, Clerk to the Board <br /> <br />Proclamation - Motor Sports Month in Cabarrus County (May 2003) <br /> <br /> The Board received the Resolution from the Board of Directors of the <br />Cabarrus Regional Chamber of Commerce requesting that the month of May be <br />proclaimed as Motor Sports Month. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Vice Chairman Suggs <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following Proclamation as <br />requested by the Cabarrus Regional Chamber of Commerce. <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Motor sports creates and sustains thousands of local jobs in our <br />regional economy; and <br /> <br />The Cabarrus Region is the home of motor sports, and Concord is the <br />home of Lowe's Motor Speedway, and Kannapolis is the home of Dale <br />Earnhardt; and <br /> <br />The Cabarrus Region is home to scores of NASCAR Drivers, Racing <br />Teams, Racing Shops and hundreds of other NASCAR related <br />industries; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />The WINSTON All Star race has an economic impact on our region in <br />excess of $75 million dollars; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />The Coca Cola 600 is the longest NASCAR race and is held each year <br />at Lowe's Motor Speedway; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Business Leaders, Elected Officials, and Racing Fans all believe <br />the heart and soul of NASCAR country is here; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Hundreds of thousands of race fans annually attend motor sports <br />events each year in Cabarrus County, North Carolina. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br />does hereby proclaim May 2003 as ~Motor Sports Month in Cabarrus County" in <br />recognition of the importance of the motor sports industry in our community <br />and throughout the region. <br /> Adopted this the 21~t day of April, 2003. <br /> /s/ Robert M. Mr. Day advised that <br />there was no additional County funding required for the Program. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carpenter, seconded by Commissioner Carruth <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following budget amendment. <br /> <br /> BUDGET REVISION/A~4ENDMENT REQUEST <br />DEPARTMENT OF Finance <br />D24OD-NT: $14,330.00 <br />TYPE OF ADJUSTMENT: Supplemental Request <br />PURPOSE OF REQUEST: Appropriate additional State Legislative Funds for Teen <br />Court <br /> Present <br /> Account No. Approved Budget Increase Decrease Revised Budget <br /> <br /> <br />
