By consensus, the Board agreed to receive public comment regarding the proposed Eastern Area Plan. Chairman Freeman opened the meeting for public comments at 7:18 p.m. Mr. Tommy Porter, Chairman of the Cabarrus County Watershed Improvement Commission, reported that the Commission has unanimously endorsed the original proposed Eastern Area Plan that included the Georgeville area in the Open Space/Agricultural Preservation District. As a resident of the area, Mr. Porter also endorsed the or. ginal plan, stating it would encourage smart growth for the entire area. There was no one else who w. shed to address the Board, and Chairman Freeman closed the meeting for public comments. In response to questions by Board members, Mr. Lentz explained guidelines associated with modular home developments and reviewed the rezoning process. He pointed out the lan~ use plan does not change the zoning and that any zoning changes would have to go through the formal rezoning process. UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, ~econded by Commissioner Privette and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the Eastern Area Plan as submitted with Future Land Use Map Option Two.
